There has been a lot of interest from my readers about the Civil War Re-enacting my family does.  I would love to invite those of you in the Greater Hudson Valley of New York to a re-enactment to see an event for yourselves.  

Our unit the 56th NY State Volunteer Infantry is participating a weekend event at
The Farmer's Museum and Brick House Museum, 850 Route 17K,  Montgomery NY
on September 20th and 21st.    
The event will be open for spectators on Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM.

Will it be a washout weekend?  
I have anxiously read the reports of my fellow East Coast Active Rain Friends some of whom have talked of two days of rain from the remains of some hurricane that decided to weave it's way into our lives.  I have also kept an eye on the weather forecasts of several weather outlets (you see every expert has a slightly different take on this).  I am more concerned than usual with the possibility of a major rain situation because we will be reenacting this weekend.  That means camping in canvas tents without sewn in floors. … (16 comments)

No trip to a Civil War Reenacting Weekend would be complete without viewing the camp life.  This is the part of the hobby that I enjoy most.  Our weekend at Liberty was memorable and fun. We had some severe thunderstorms that caused a bit of havoc on the camps and cut down on the amount of participants and public attendance but we had a great time in spite of it.  I hope you will enjoy the views of Camp Life and realize that I am not crazy after all for going out to live for a weekend in a tent that has … (18 comments)
