Recently I spoke on this topic in an article in the PA Realtor magazine about being safe in new home communities.  I was asked to explain a bit more information.  We represent a lot of builders and several that have communities in areas without a lot of visibility.  We use a system that is connected to the model home security system - almost like a remote key start for your car.  It is a silent alarm button that looks like a remote car door opener.  The site agents carry the device with them when touring the house or the lots with buyers who come to the community.  There are 2 buttons on the remote - one is silent and sends a signal to the alarm company who then notify the local police department.  The second button is one that triggers the house alarm to go off , which is very loud and could scare off the perpetrator.  It also sends an alarm code to the police again.  With agents more on their own and alone at sites it is important to be aware of their safety.  This is an inexpensive way to protect them and make them feel more secure.
