Microsoft VS Apple - 10/26/07 11:01 AM
As of today Microsoft still controls about 90% of the pc market but Apple is slowly starting to chip away at its dominance. I am MSFT is trading at 35 and some change and might finally make a move to the lower 40's for the first time in years! Appl on the other hand is trading at 185 and some change and does not look like it is looking back anytime soon. Who here on active rain will buy a new apple with there new leapoard OS loaded on it or will everyone stick with the PC with Vista. Just curious (3 comments)
Loris Bog-Off - 10/25/07 03:51 PM
For those of you who are locals in Horry County and decided not to attend this years Loris Bog-Off you missed out on one of the biggest festivals in Horry County in a long long time! We had over 185 vendors, some of the best food around in the South, and of course elephant ears!! By noon the Crowds were well over 20,000 strong and they stayed around unil well after the concert! We had a display booth there and recieved some great exposure in the local market and had a great time as well meeting everyone in town! What a day! (0 comments)
whats next for the OPEC! - 10/16/07 08:12 AM
Okay so I am trying to enjoy my morning coffee and read all the headlines in the Finance world and guess what oil is at it again! Why don't we just leave it alone! I am tired of all the scare tactics and influence of the media! They open their mouths and boom everyone believes that they are God and what they say goes! The latest is Opec and how tight oil supplies are. Okay the last justification was all the hurricanes, well people we have not had a major storm in two years but I bet its coming in the (6 comments)
Trent Tomlinson to sing at Bog-off - 10/12/07 11:30 AM
EntertainmentTrent TomlinsonLoris Bog-Off Festival Concert sponsored by HTC Singer/songwriter Trent Tomlinson is one of those rare performers whose music is as straight-ahead and unpretentious as he is. "My songs," he says simply, "are real-life situations with kick-ass guitar." "It's 'open a beer, sit in a lawn chair, let's have a party' country," he says of his music. "At the same time, the songs are saying, 'I have the ability to love you, to understand,' and at the end of the day all that matters is Mama and Daddy and going to heaven. That pretty much sums everything up."Trent honed his music to (5 comments)
Same Thing, Different Place, Same Homes, Different Time!!! - 10/10/07 12:32 PM
Okay people having lived in Ohio and South Carolina and I have been able to see some very unique homes, developments, and attractions. One thing that is starting to bug me is the fact that the new trend down here in Horry County is these cookie cutter developements!! All the developer is concerned with is slapping up homes, hoping the yankees come down and buy a home from them. First of all I have seen first hand what happens when developers fail to plan or offer variety! The foreclosure rate in the midwest is horrible. Is it because the developer got greedy? (5 comments)
Google is skyrocketing! - 10/08/07 03:30 PM
Okay Active Rainers we have witnessed the stock marktet hit new highs this year, plenty of ups and downs too! Google has just hit a new high and surpassed the $600 dollar mark! With GOOG offering every type of "free service" to the consumer what is going to be there new level in terms of price? Should they do a split, say 2 for 1 or 4 for 1 or just keep it as is and keep going? I love there services but at the same time are they starting to become to big? What is everyones take on this? College Football! - 10/07/07 11:15 AM
Its been a crazy two weeks in College Football already with all the top teams falling like dominos! Is there truly a dominate team this year? I do believe that LSU has what it takes but they are very beatable! My Buckeyes (OSU) has a defense that just gets better and better each week! They might just move to number two this week in the polls, But we still have a long season left and Im not about to get excited yet! Heres a thought maybe with all these home sitting on the market maybe we should rent some big screens (14 comments)

Your Favorite Phone - 10/06/07 10:33 AM
With all the new phones coming out this year, I am curious to see what ActiveRain members favorite cell phones are? OR the ones you would stay far far away from. I have the att 8525 and it doubles as a pda, it runs the windows OS, and has a whole lot of features! I really dont have too many complaints about it, other then at my home I have horrible service, but if you go 15 feet outside its great! Go figure! Now att just released the new TILT phone which is basically an upgrade from the 8525, I have (19 comments)
Fall Bike rally - 10/05/07 09:26 AM
Okay so usually this time of the year we are listening to the roar of bikes up and down the beach. Now the weather has been very ugly and I do not blame anyone for not wanting to go out in the rain. We have been in a very serve drought and we do need the water. It just seems that this year the rally is lacking attendance and there are not that many vendors or events planned. I hope that the weather is scaring them away and not the economy. I enjoy the rallies and meeting the bikers, and a (0 comments)
Best online Tour - 10/04/07 07:32 PM
Im curious to find out what software or websites that other Realtors are using. What are your likes dislikes vs cost. Also if you could leave a link or two in would be great! We are searching for an online tour company or software to do it ourself? Also does anyone have any information on the step out videos or pop videos that have a person actually talking on the site in a cutout video? (10 comments)
Where do you want to Retire? - 10/04/07 02:58 PM
Just curious as to all the members on AR, where you would like to retire. If you are living in the SE do you want go further south to say the islands or Coasta Rica? How about the Midwest do you see more people heading to AZ or the Carolinas? OR if you are out West do you see youself coming to the East Coast How about the NE do you want go to FL or CA? Or would you like to retire in the mountains somewhere. What are everyone's thoughts?? As for me I have traveled all around the world and (11 comments)
Hot Christmas Item - 10/04/07 10:06 AM
Okay people I am seeing Christmas decorations popping up everywhere and it is a friendly reminder that the Holidays are right around the corner! I love Black Friday and the deals that surround it! I have heard and read reports that Walmart plans on starting early with discounts as well. I am wondering this year what will be the must have toy of the Christmas season? Right now it seems you cannot find the Nintendo Wii anywhere, but what are some popular younger kids toys that are hot right now? (6 comments)
Market Commmons A new Myrtle Beach - 10/02/07 03:16 PM
Urban themed developments are starting to pop up everywhere we look today, along with live work townhomes. Here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina we have a new twist on developement called Market Commons. This is going to be very exciting for the city of Myrtle Beach as a new towne center is born. This land used to be the former USAF Base and there are some other big exciting things to come surrounding the area. I believe the market commons will be a Home Run, I have seen and lived at some similar properties around the country and this trend seems (0 comments)
Buying Real Estate with 401 - 10/02/07 10:56 AM
I am curious about this topic and I am looking into what they call an unlimited IRA. Now to my understanding is that you can buy real estate in this IRA but all expenses must be paid from the IRA and of course all profit goes into the IRA. When I mean Real estate I mean anything that pertains to it, including land. Also from reading I see that you can never use the Real Estate for personal use, it must be for investment purposes only. Also another benefit from it is that you do not pay taxes on any of (0 comments)
Expired - 10/01/07 04:58 PM
People today I checked our MLS expired and bam we had 445 listings expired! We have a lot of lots and condos still flooding our market...And guess what all these listing agents that thought they could promise everyone top dollar are starting to bleed now. People do not realize how much money goes into land just to get it to be usable. I believe that all these marketing dollars from these listing agents are just making, marketing firms rich and now the consumer is starting to get educated at the same time! Now we are going to a Real Real Estate (2 comments)
Time for Networking! - 10/01/07 01:20 PM
With the ever change world of Real Estate and growing number of houses and foreclosures we need to be reminded about the power of Networking! Real Estate is such a large industry that it is hard to truly be dominant and a one man one stop resource for everything concerning Real Estate. If we stop and look at the different worlds of Real Estate we can loose focus and sight of our goals. For instance, we have to be knowledgable in Land, Development, Residential, Condos, Commercial, and so forth. Now it is probably great to be in a niche market or (3 comments)
