Lindy's Landing Is Open

Last night 7/18/07, the main dinning area of Lindy's new building opened for the first time. My wife & I were sitting on the outside deck and decided to go in for dinner. The food was excellent!! I had the seafood pot pie, which was sea scallops, shrimp, craw-fish in a spicy cream sauce served over mashed potatoes with a piece of pastry on top. I thought it was outstanding. My wife had the Prime Rib served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. She said it was excellent, and I concur.

We also ate there the 4th Of July for dinner on the new outside deck. The dinner that night was also excellent. Their new chef David seems to be a great find. Keep up the good work.

It's Not A Game anymore , It's A Business.

This past Friday, June 15th I went down to Wrigly Field, and watched the CUBS beat the Padres. I know the CUBS are NOT having the BANNER SEASON we all hope for every year, but they still have the greatest fans in all of baseball. Being at Wrigly (Win or Lose) is something everyone should experiance at least once in a lifetime.

As I watched the game, it dawned on me that the CUBS will be SOLD at the end of this season and the status of Wrigly Field is in LIMBO??? Wrigly is the last of the old time great stadiums, and I'd really hate to see it go the route of Brooklyns Ebitts Field, Cincinnatis Crosly Field, N.Y. Giants Polo Grounds, N.Y. Yankees Old Yankee Stadium and Pittsburghs Forbes Field.

WAUCONDA STARTS SUMMER WATER CONSERVATION

Beginning June 1st through September 15th the VILLAGE OF WAUCONDA will enforce outdoor water use conservation. You can use outdoor water on odd or even days depending on your street address. For now you can water all day on odd or even calendar days. Should an emergency water condition arise in WAUCONDA, as it did last year, the watering times of 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM will be enforced.

If you have special watering needs do to new landscape plantings, you can contact the WAUCONDA Public Works Department for a permit. If you have any questions call the WAUCONDA Water Department @ 847 526-9610.

RADON ?? WHAT IS IT??

Just as ASBESTOS and LEAD BASE PAINT was a big problem in the latter 1900s, RADON has become the ASBESTOS of the 2000s. As a Realtor in Wauconda and Lake County,RADON seems to be popping up more and more in home inspection reports. The word RADON seems to strike fear in buyers and sellers of homes.

RADON has always been here, but in recent years public awareness of it and its dangers have been heightened. It is important to learn what RADON is, its cause and the affect it has on us. There is a wealth of information on the net available to you.

If you are buying or selling a home and RADON becomes an issue, it is not the end of the world. RADON mitigation is not that expensive, and shouldn't be a cause for panic. Here is a little test I found on the net that you can take. I hope this test makes you more aware and prompts you to investigate more about RADON. It is something you should know about.

I was amazed how many people do not know what Radon is or how to deal with it. Being that this is the "ASBESTOS" of the 2000s I was really amazed of how many realtors do not know. In the past couple of years the number of radon problems comming up in home inspection reports is on the rise. Radon has always been here, but the public awareness of it seemed, to me, to begin hitting its stride about 2000.

I found this National Radon Test on the net and thought it might be helpful to your clients.

The story of how we got to WAUCONDA, ILLINOIS from Brooklyn, NEW YORK some 34 years ago is odd, but the reason we stayed is not. My wife Nancy had family in the Lake County area, so we thought we would find a place to rent before we made a commitment to purchase a home. Back then many of the (acceptable) rentals, would not rent to people with kids. (against the law NOW) We tried many of the nearby towns to no avail. Then we went to the new apartment complex on Bangs Lake ( NOW Lakeside Condos). We were told that they would make an exception and rent to us even though we had kids.

The reason we wound up in Wauconda, was out of necessity. The reasons we stayed was, the warm and inviting community, the quite "small town"atmosphere, Beautiful Bangs Lake, and most of all a GREAT PLACE TO RAISE OUR KIDS. After 34 years WAUCONDA is still all of the above.

Being Italian, I usually don't go to Italian restaurants. (Why pay for something I get at home). Recently we were invited to go out to dinner with my brother & sister in-law to a restaurant in Richmond, Illinois. The restaurant, "Paisano's on Broadway" was such a pleasant surprise I've been back 3 times. Proprietors Karen & Phil Gilardi have hit the nail on the head with this small tastefully decorated Italian Bistro. All the food I've tried was excellent, but I'm really partial to the rolled stuffed Eggplant. Karen & Phil have created a warm fun atmosphere, and if you ask, Phil might come over & do a magic trick at your table. I would call for reservations on the weekends just to be safe.

As a Realtor and long time resident in the area, oh by the way also very Italain, I do recommend this restaurant very highly. I HOPE YOU ENJOY
