My five favorite things about living in Charlottesville Virginia. Charlottesville Virginia is a wonderful place in which to live.  There are so many things to enjoy in Central Virginia and I am sure that if you ask 10 people what they like best about living the Charlottesville life they could all give you different answers.
These are the five things that I like best about life in Charlottesville:

One of the best parts of life in Charlottesville, Virginia is following the University of Virginia athletic teams.  Of the sports my favorite is basketball.  UVA plays on the Atlantic Coast Conference;  the ACC offers some of the most competitive clooege basketball of any conference in the country.

Come home for the holidays to Thomas Jefferson's Charlottesville.  This year's  Jeffesonian Thanksgiving Festival will take place on Saturday, November 22.  The first event of the day will be Governor Jefferson's  Parade which goes from 10:00 am to noon.  The route starts at the ice park and ends up at the Pavillion downtown.  The participants will be in historical dress and include a pipe and drum corp, musket firing, dancing, music and historical characters..

The last area that we will consider in our market reports this month is the sale of detached homes in Lake Monticello.  The Lake is a gated community centered areound a 350 acre lake located in the heart of Fluvanna County just outside of Albemarle County and Charlottesville Virginia.
In October of 2008, 6 homes had contracts pending in Lake Monticello.  The average list price was $251,267 and the median was $234,000.  They had been on the market for an average of 88 days. 
There were not any homes with contracts pending in the month of October.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, its always fun to listen to a good ghost story.  Halloween night is the perfect time to treat yourself and take the Ghost and Murders Tour.  This 2 hour walking tour will cover about 1 mile and will discuss local hauntings and murders; all of the stories are based on historical fact.
The Ghost and Murders Walking Tour is offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from April 3 - November 1.  The tour meets at York Place on the Charlottesville, Virginia Downtown Mall at 8:00 pm.

The 2008 horseshow season is winding down.  Then there will be a few weekends of down time before the 2009 season starts in the beginning of December.  This is often a season to say goodby to the good friend that you have shared several years of showing with.  Ponies are sadly out grown or a rider is ready to move on to a more challenging mount which will allow them to progress to the next level.  As a result the fall break between seasons becomes the perfect time to go horseshopping.
