river: Lock and Dam No. 2 Hastings, Minnesota

Not the first Barge this Spring to come through Hastings, but, the first one I had the chance to see. There is nothing like walking along the river next to a masive Barge heading for Lock and Dam No.2. The observation deck allows you to watch boats, barges and sometimes even a Paddle Wheeler as they raise and lower in the locks getting ready to navigate the next part of the Mississippi. My grandsons love to push the BIG GREEN BUTTON and listen as "some guy" talks about the Lock and Dam and the whole process of how the boats enter and leave. … (2 comments)
