Once again, Forbes.com has recognized the Greater Boise, Idaho area as a great place to live and work! The Boise-Nampa area came in at #6 on the Forbes list of "Top 10 Pay-Raise Citites" with a wage increase of 2.2%. Forbes.com cited "Idaho's quirky mix of agriculture, lumber, mining and high-tech manufacturing gives it a far different profile than most states. Unusual job skills for niche industries can remain in demand during recessions, since those jobs can't be filled by just anyone." Foreclosures are on the rise across the country, and Idaho is not immune to this trend. The Idaho Business Review recently reported " Idaho ranked 10th in home foreclosure rate in November, with one of every 479 households in some stage of foreclosure," This means more and more homes in Idaho will be sold in some type of distress; either as a pre-foreclosure or short sale, at a Trustee's sale, or as a REO or Bank owned property. Idaho has grabbed 4 spots in the Housing Predictor's Top 25 Appreciating US Markets for 2008! Sun Valley shines at #5, Idaho Falls comes in at #11, Kellogg comes in at # 19, and Boise takes the #20 spot! These 4 Idaho cities were picked out of 250 local Real Estate Markets with the greatest forecasted appreciation for 2008. The 2007 Housing Predictor's forecasts were 86% correct. The top markets for 2008 were scattered all over the U.S., and no particular region dominated the charts. So you're thinking about coming to Boise, Idaho to visit! We would love to have you! There are many wonderful sites to see (like actual Oregon Trail ruts), and fun things to do (Idaho Shakespeare Festival). The summer before I was a Sophmore in High School I went to visit my cousins in Oakland, California. In Boise, Idaho it is hot in the summer, so all I would wear was shorts.
