louisville ky real estate: Lemonade from Lemons - 08/08/11 06:29 AM
There are a handful of people in my life that really know how to take lemons and turn them into lemonade. Take my assistant, Gerri. Her then 2yr old daughter, Bren broke her first piggy bank- something Gerri had hoped to save for Bren. After saving the pieces for almost two years, she came up with an ingenious plan to make it something worth keeping. Gerri started with some basic supplies:
One broken piggy bank
One shadow box
Contact paper
A circular cutter
Glue gun (can use any type of quick dry clear glue)

She took the back off … (2 comments)

louisville ky real estate: Where do Leads Come From? - 06/08/11 08:46 AM

Three years ago I spoke to a pleasant young lady about Real Estate in Louisville KY.  She told me that she had a family friend that was a Realtor, and that she felt obligated to use the friend. I followed up with her a few times just to make sure she was on track, and then let the other agent finish up with her.
Fast forward three years. I get a call at my office from an unrecognized number. The young woman introduces herself and says that a friend referred her to me. I, of course, ask who the friend is, and lo and behold, it's the girl from … (2 comments)

louisville ky real estate: The Mayor's Hike and Bike in Louisville, KY today was a Great Ride - 09/06/10 03:22 PM
OK, so I did my first Mayor's Hike and Bike Ride of about 15 miles on Memorial Day, 2010, and I think that got me hooked on biking. But boy, I tried to resist it for so long.  My husband, Mike, has been riding with a group of dedicated bikers for more than a couple of years and he has hounded me to get out there with him for so long.  But when I found out that my sister-in-law and her husband were going, I figured I had to be as healthy as they were, so I did it.
We decided to … (0 comments)

Ok, so now you’ve found a great house, have an accepted contract, repair request has been negotiated and agreed upon, now what? There are still things to be done, many things that will keep you busy until closing day.

louisville ky real estate: 6th in a Series: Proper and Expected Steps to Buying a Home - Getting Through the Home Inspection and Repair Request - 09/04/10 02:53 PM
So now you’ve got a contract on a home, where do you go from here?
Well it goes without saying that you’ll be calling a good home inspector to get your new place inspected. You might also be calling a termite inspector and a radon inspector, depending on where you live and how you feel about that. I always recommend all of those inspections to my clients and give them a list of 3 or 4 professional inspectors who many of my clients have used and would say did a thoroughly good job for them. Typically, you will have about 7 … (0 comments)

louisville ky real estate: 2nd in a Series: Proper and Expected Steps to Buying a Home - Choosing a Realtor in Louisville, Kentucky - 08/29/10 09:23 AM
This is the second in a series I started yesterday to discuss the proper and expected steps to buying a home. Yesterday I discussed the importance of starting by choosing a lender to make sure you can get pre-qualified and understand how much home you can afford.
Today I want to discuss the importance of choosing a good great Realtor and what it will cost you. You should always have a Realtor represent you in the home buying process and it should not cost you a penny. The buyer’s agent/broker is paid by the listing agent/broker from the pre-negotiated fee he … (1 comments)
