How is your 2008 going to close? - 12/31/07 09:49 PM
Biblically it is spoken that we should not worry about tomorrow but only concern ourselves with today.  It justifies that statement by talking about there being enough to digest for the present and tomorrow will take care of itself.I notice when I worry about things they only seem to get worse.  But when I relax and leave them to handle themselves, after I have done all I can, they seem to take care of themselves.  What is that about?  How does it work that when we don not focus on the negative but only on the positive, we seem to attract … (3 comments)

Real Estate with Honor - 12/29/07 07:38 PM
Active Rain has been a true blessing for Paris and I and the Real Estate business we have built through those of you on Active Rain.  Not to mention our friends, family, sphere of influence, and the like, you all have been there in the good times and the bad.
Now on to the point, I love posting things on Active Rain, writing my "street driven" insights and current market conditions.  How to keep out of jail and how not to pick up the soap if you do land in prison.  However, this is not going to stay the same, nothing ever … (1 comments)

It could be worse.. - 12/25/07 02:52 PM
I get calls routinely from those whom which I worked hand in hand with before I up and quit after 17 years.  LAPD is still my second family and will always be.  There is a certain brotherhood that I feel when amongst other Law-Enforcement members.  Someday I hope this will be a tie or a close second with those of you in Real Estate Circles.
Most of the time on Motors I was working the famed "Deuce Watch".  We worked from 1645hrs to 0300hrs (Yes that is AM...)  Our function was to hunt the drunk driver.  Whether it was the driver being under … (1 comments)

Boot to the Head. - 12/25/07 11:31 AM
As always, I seem early to rise.  It is quite a testament when I am logged into Active Rain, commenting, writing, discovering, etc...
Active Rain has been a great inspiration to me and our business.  Now that this year is coming to a close and 2008 is just around the corner, I must give my thanks.
I would like to thank all of you that have read, responded, got angry, were sad, shared my pain, and gave part of yourselves, and all the other emotions that we shared over the past year, THANK YOU.
Sincerely, I would hope you do exceedingly well in the … (4 comments)

Don't forget what is important to you. - 12/22/07 10:47 AM
We can all agree that people are very different from one another.
Their priorities are very different as well.  Some agents are very happy with their current level of performance.  They are happy with the way that they advertise and how they present themselves.  Their self-confidence is something that is not misplaced, but true to their core.
When a person gives of themselves not expecting anything in return, those are truly fantastic people.  When an agent has a transactional approach to their clients and not a relational approach, then their client should run for the hills.  Because, even though their chosen representative will … (2 comments)

Arlington National Cemetery at Christmas - 12/14/07 12:55 PM
Christmas at Arlington National Cemetery:
I thought you might want to see it. Arlington National Cemetery
Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.  Know the line has held, your job is done.  Rest easy, sleep well.  Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.  Peace, peace, and farewell...
You may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of … (3 comments)

Are you a Moonlighting Blogger? - 12/13/07 07:07 PM
I have been looking for another place to have a different blog with some varying content.  After looking around the www and speaking with a lot of different people.  I went with a Kinetic Blog offered by Kristen and Chris.
I wore these folks out by the amount of time I spent with them on the phone and I consider myself a really hard sell.(especially in this market of plenty - chagrin)
At four weeks later, I have come up page 1 in Google when doing a search of Valencia Real Estate News.
There it was my blog, blog.paris911.com.
I am very satisfied.  Give then a … (4 comments)

How is your Caterer - Our is McClean of Clan McClean - 12/11/07 10:28 AM
Here is a copy of a letter I sent thanking Cameron, a fantastic Chef and a top-notch caterer.
10-24-2007
Dear Cameron,
We entertain guests at least 4 times a year with invitees in excess of Fifty People.  We have worked with companies that have their place in mainstream catering and are nationally recognized as being catering specialists.
On October 21, 2007, Paris and I celebrated my resignation, after 17 years of service, from the Los Angeles Police Department.  This event was extremely special and my last grand "hoo-rah" from those that knew me best.  The attendee's consisted of all my brethren, the Men and Women … (0 comments)

Interview Clients, do not have them Interview You! - 12/09/07 04:12 PM
The Appointment:  You either receive a phone call, have a referral from a friend, past client, family, or from some other source.  You were able to obtain the "appointment" for the client to meet you at your office or at their home.
The Preparation:  Come the day and hour of the meeting you have prepared your brain with whatever you think they will want.  You have probably also punched their name into Google to see if there is anything written.  You pulled properties or their own  to be more educated just in case they have questions pertaining to you being  familiar … (6 comments)

Middle East Property for Sale!!! - 12/07/07 12:34 PM
So our future member of our team has been deployed and you Active Rain friends have wished him God-Speed with a prior post. Before he left he took some of the Paris911 Bumper Stickers.  I cannot wait until I see it on a M-1 Abrams Tank...
This will have to do for now.  He is attached with a Seal Team and does something "secret".  However, the seal's that I am referring too are also good at swimming but also have the opposable thumbs that make them even more dangerous than the non-human type.
So, here is Rob presenting the concept of Paris911in the middle east!!!  … (0 comments)

Where is your Chi when Blogging? - 12/06/07 07:58 PM
Where is your Chi or center.  Where is your mindset when writing blogs?  Besides you wanting to pass on information about your listings, the market, or something that is funny that happened to you while driving in excess of 65mph when you were almost killed, (my last blog - LOL), where do you find your creative mind?
If you imagine for a moment that all space around you is not void.  You might look around yourself, the immediate area surrounding your body, and see nothing in the space.  You might also acknowledge that on a microscopic level there are germs, oxygen, etc … (3 comments)

Could have been deadly. - 12/03/07 10:20 PM
I am a pretty large fella.  I can do 500 hindu squats in about 19 minutes.  I can do 12 30 second repeat sprints up hill.  I like to walk for 1 hour with 2 26.2 kettle bells (I have the callouses to prove it).  I was LAPD for 17 years, motor cop for 13 of those and the list goes on and on.  You know, I have been scared once, and remember the time place and what happened....  Macho a Macho....  (Hugs are better than drugs...)
I'm driving my H2.  I bought it before Gas went through the roof.  The lease … (3 comments)

Let us search for homes as agents do... - 12/01/07 07:06 AM
I am not sure if that is possible, searching for homes as agents do.  I know when I do a search for a client a lot of "stuff" goes into it.  I am looking at demographics, comparables, prices, area's, cities, all active, pending, and sold.  Not to mention, the contacting of other agents to check "real-time" status and to get whatever information I can get regarding their listing, information that is not in the box.
However, if you are going to search for homes in the Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, Antelope Valley, Conejo Valley, or beyond in the rest of … (0 comments)
