The Cornerstone Restaurant & Bar In Hillsdale NJ



In Hillsdale New Jersey there is an iconic Restaurant that has stood the test of time. The Cornerstone Restaurant & Bar  located at 84 Broadway in the heart of this popular town has plenty of parking available in front, back or across the street by the famous Hillsdale Victorian Train Station.

The establishment may have changed names through the generations but the iconic building is as old as Hillsdale is with it's unique architectural design.

Inside you will find an intimate atmosphere with a homey old time ambiance.


The murals on the walls mimic the way Hillsdale New Jersey may have looked 100 years ago.


There is a large upstairs dining area which overlooks the main floor dining area below which offers a more intimate setting.  The horseshoe shaped bar and multiple fireplaces create an even more cozey mood.

Their catering menu is also very extensive.  It's a lovely atmosphere for a wedding.  In fact, close family relatives of ours have had their own wedding at this location.

After a long hot spell, today we had a cooling change in the weather.  Although it may be brief and we expect the temperatures to soar once again, I began to notice the subtle change in the season. 

The first thing I notice are the flowers in my garden start to come to an end of their cycle of flowering.  Even though this is a very sad time of year for me, I know that soon the Fall season will be here with more beauty to enjoy!

Within the next month, the leaves will be noticeably changing and we'll begin to see a much different but really beautiful sight!

River Vale New Jersey

The community of River Vale, New Jersey in Bergen County consists of a small unassuming town known for it's Golf Courses and abundant manicured green lawns.  It's not uncommon to get a glimpse of the beautiful wildlife as seen here on Piermont Road in front of the Edgewood Country Club

Established in the early 1900's, the Township of River Vale is rich in History and has remained one of the most unassuming towns in the Pascack Valley region.  It's quiet yet elegant personality boasts three Golf Courses as well as the town center known as "The Four Corners" where River Vale Road and Westwood Avenue intersect to provide the town with the convenience of local shops, banks and food stops.

The community has a lush, park-like character, prompting some to call it the Garden Spot of the Pascack Valley.  The scenery is further enhanced with quaint, winding roads and scenic, historic homes.  River Vale is tucked between the neighboring communities of Woodcliff Lake, Park Ridge, Montvale, Lake Tappan in Old Tappan, Harrington Park, Emerson, Westwood and Hillsdale. 

New York City lies 22 miles southeast.  Although River Vale is a small community of only 10,000 residents, it offers many of the advantages of a much larger city. For example, New York City is close enough so that residents can experience its many educational, cultural and economic opportunities.

Within the more immediate area of Bergen County, residents have access to strong manufacturing and technology industries, plus diverse shopping, dining and recreational opportunities, including golf at Valley Brook Golf Course, one of three area courses.  Public schooling in River Vale has an excellent reputation. River Vale Public Schools manages three campuses, serving the elementary and middle grades. High school students then move on to the Pascack Valley High School, where they are joined by Hillsdale students.

This beautiful town has undergone some changes in the form of updates to the town center and the River Vale Public Library.  The town celebrated it's 100 year River Vale Centennial in 2006' and continues to evolve.
