Heavy Hidden Termite Damage Reveal on Charlotte Home Inspection - 03/21/12 04:53 PM
While at a South Charlotte inspection Patrick Waddell finds a large amount of termite damage in a townhome. Underneath the staircase I noticed that there was some mud on the back of the moisture barrier so I pulled back the carpet and then pulled away the moisture barrier. What I found was active termites. Further investigation found that they were in several areas of the the front wall and the left wall under the staircase. Termites Swarm Out of Outlet during Home Inspection - 03/21/12 04:37 PM
Do you know what swarmer termites look like? While performing a home inspection in Charlotte NC, Home Inspection Carolina home inspector Preston Sandlin found swarmer termites coming out of an electrical outlet. When termites are present and Spring comes the first few warm days after a rain are very proned to termites swarming to start a new colony. The swarmers are the reproductives of the termite caste system. They will usually swarm towards the light or a window. So check around your windows for these guys or the wings. Charlotte Home Inspector Reveals Bats In Attic - 03/21/12 04:29 PM
While at a Mooresville inspection Patrick Waddell finds dozens of bats in the attic. Needless to say the scuttle hole door was as far in as I went. Once they are removed I will come back to finish this inspection! LOL. If you own a home with galbe vents it is highly recommended that you screen not only the interior of the vents, but also the exterior. A heavier gage chicken wire is better than simple screening also becuase as you can see the simply screening tears easily and makes easy access for pest to get into the home. If you

Charlotte Home Inspector Reveals Double Hitched Breaker - 03/21/12 11:32 AM
Home Inspectors inspect a multitude of things while performing the Home Inspection on of the things the inspect for is over fusing or double hitching. Only Square D makes a breaker that is made to double lug. The reson people do this is the don't have space for another breaker or they do but are too lazy to install a new breaker. Double hitches or double lugged breakers like you see in this picture are dangerous and should be fixed by a liscensed electrician.
