Who needs a tax credit with current interest rates at the lowest level on record!? - 10/01/10 04:35 PM
Average interest on 30-year fixed mortgages fell this week to 4.32 percent, matching the lowest level on record. Interest on 15-year loans, meanwhile, declined to 3.75 percent, setting an all-time low.
I just recieved a rate sheet from a local lender that I use on a regular basis quoting 2.875% on a 5/1 FHA ARM, 4.125% on a 30 year Fixed and 4.25% on a FHA 30 year Fixed! With rates like these who needs a tax credit!? 
Here is a simple scenario taking these low interest rates vs the tax credit of $8,000 that expired in April.
