wellesley: Needham, MA Olin College & Some Super Restaurants - 03/30/10 03:09 PM
Needham, MA Olin College & Some Super Restaurants
Before I tell you about Olin College dining services I want to go back to the 1930's.  At that time my husband's uncle and family lived right there where the campus was.  The original administration building was their actual house.  There is a lot of history right there but especially for my husband's family.  There his uncle not only raised his family that to this day enjoy showing and riding horses, they also started the fence business my husband has worked in for 40+ years.  The business was relocated to Framingham and now … (3 comments)

NEEDHAM, MA NEWEST RESTAURANT CAMELLA'S

NEEDHAM, MA NEWEST RESTAURANT CAMELLA'S OPENS
Needham is already known for it's restaurants.  Needham has fabulous restaurants and your choice from A to Z.
Even the Phantom Gourmet has rated the newest restaurant to Needham, MA.  Camella's.  I have been to their Wellesley restaurant a number of times.  They do cater too which is wonderful.  The various sports teams have had them cater for them.
The Needham, MA location is ideal, right in the heart of downtown Needham, next to the Mobil Gas Station and across from the Needham Post Office.
Their other locations are … (1 comments)

Boston Globe Update on Buyer Tax Credit Extension
http://www.boston.com/realestate/news/blogs/renow/2009/11/high_end_likely.html
Income limits may be increased.  We are at the eleventh hour and they are still posturing and it the deadline is looming close.
The wealthy towns of Wellesley, Lincoln and Weston where there are many luxury homes have seen a considerable drop.  The Weston price drop is 12% and sales drop doubling that number at 22.6%.
Highend real estate has been out of luck with a tax break.  it should be across the board and it should have been for all as far as I am concerned.
The tax credit created so much activity … (0 comments)

wellesley: Natick Market Report for the past 12 months - 12/21/08 08:12 AM
The  average single family home price in Natick, MA is up from the year 2006-2007 but there were 71 less homes sold year 2007-2008.  The average days on market is essentially the same.  The list price to sold price average is 96% which is not too bad.   There were far more luxury homes sold in the prior year.  The highest price in Natick this past year was $1,282,000 while in the prior the highest sale was $2,275,000  The concentration seems to be between the $300k to $600K single family properties.
I have included a comparison chart for the period of 12/21/2006 to 12/21/2007  and then the … (3 comments)

I just loved this and I can't keep a good thing to myself so here it is. Some folks must like it because 8+ million have watched it so far. There is not need for me to comment because the song says it all and so well. My compliments to the song writer, singer, and the one who accompanied her. Enjoy. wellesley: Needham Hiking Trails - 07/31/08 11:56 AM
Needham has 2 great spots but nearby Dover, Wellesley and South Natick have some great spots too.  In fact, my brother-in-law comes to visit us often from Cape Cod to do the nearby trails.  This keeps him young at 58.
Ridge Hill Reservation - Charles River Peninsula - This reservation has sloping hills that gently roll down to the charles River also known as the city river.
Needham Town Forest - 200+ acre trails run the gamut of types of terrain - your average garden variety type to a very frightening rocky sections
Nearby Dover:

wellesley: Green projects In Needham - 07/27/08 11:23 AM
The Green Needham Collaborative brings the community together with other people who are like-minded when it comes to the education and effice use of our resources.  There are many topics on the iste and they have kept the site up to date.
There is a link to some great tips for conservation.  I am pleased that a group like this is available at no cost to join.  For 26 years I have been recycling before Needham had their recycle facility the town of Wellesley allowed me to bring my recycle materials there.  All these things take time but it is worth … (1 comments)

wellesley: The Stock Dividends & Herbie McIntosh - 03/13/08 07:31 AM
Now I came to Needham in 1965.   There was a town resident named Herbie McIntosh (originally spelled MacIntosh).
Herbie was quite old when I first saw him walking up Great Plain Avenue from his home close to the Wellesley line.  He would walk closer to the ground, it seemed every time I saw him.  He would walk to the Post Office in the center of town and side on the large window sill in the old post office on Chestnut Street.  As he sat opening mail, which was one dividend after another, as the story goes.  It would be 5 … (1 comments)

wellesley: Needham Market Report - 03/06/08 03:16 PM
Needham is hot!
Where our Town Needham stands.  I would say ...Needham is hot.
Well in the town of Needham property increased 17.9.% over the past 5 years.  According to Boston Magazine there are 29 neighborhoods and towns that are holding their value.  You would never know it if your only listened to the news.  All bad news all the time.  Except for yesterday I heard a quote on the News that the National Association of Realtors said that there seems to be recovery coming.
"According to research done by Municipal Benchmarking, which studied Needham against Lexington and Wellesley, and 17 other communities, Needham … (1 comments)

wellesley: Funny Stories - 01/26/08 02:43 PM
Yesterday I took a course and some of the attendees had some funny stories I thought I would share a couple of  them while I still remember them.
The first one goes like this:  The agent went to give her market analysis to the owner.  He said that the 2-Family was worth at least a million.  Her price was half that.  He insisted he would take nothing less. The background on this house was that he had a large snake in apartment, rats in the basement and in the rented apartment an ex-con.
The second story was an animal story as well.  These … (5 comments)

wellesley: Needham, Wellesley, Dover Market Report - 12/29/07 01:18 PM
Although the year has not officially ended I believe that we can get a real picture of the single family home sales for these communities in the infamous year of 2007.  Comparison follows the report for each town from the previous year and same time period.  The figures are taken from Multiple Listing Service for this area which is H3MLS.
All of these communities are in Norfolk County.  All are a generally strong luxury market.  All have terrific amenities in what are offered for town services and near to the city of Boston, MA.
Explanation of the these headings: SP:LP ratio = Sales … (0 comments)

wellesley: "I haven't gotten over the shock!" - 12/14/07 09:36 AM
That is what  Anne Leonard of Needham, MA said when 25 members of the Irish Village Soccer Club did over her roof.  You may remember I wrote about this woman who have come on some really bad times and her home was in need of much repair.  The worst thing about her house was the leaking roof.  The men as you can from the picture below did work on the roof.  They will have one more Saturday to finish the work they have started. *see Homeless in Needham blog
The Irish Village Soccer Club actually raised $4,000.  The owner was able to … (4 comments)

Westwood Market Report - from 11/3/07 - 12/3/07
CNN and money magazine ranked Westwood 13th on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States. It is one of the wealthiest towns in Massachusetts.  One of the great things about this town is the schools, the easy access to major highways.  It is another town that was once part of Dedham and split away.  It is bordered by Needham, Dover, Walpole, Norwood, Canton, Dedham.  Westwood has a beautiful new High School.  A very pretty town and well laid out.

Holliston Market Report - From 11/3/07 to 12/3/07
Holliston is the picture of New England.  As you drive through town you see many historical homes.  In the center of town is the Fiske Store which a a wonderful place for crafts, kids toys and collectibles, penny candy.  Just across the street is the a great market which has been there for years.  My favorite spot in Holliston is Lake Winthrop.  It is this serene lake,  It takes me back to going to New Hampshire in the summer with family and friends.  Among the wonderful things about Holliston is the school system.  Absolutely … (0 comments)

Sherborn Market Report from 9/3/07 - 12/3/07
Sherborn is  home to the Sherborn Inn which has been completely renovated.  If you haven't been there it is great.  The tavern is great for quick bite and the main dining is just elegant.  We went to a lovely wedding there last January and it was superb.  Sherborn is a  small semi-rural community.  There is a full time Police Department and an on call volunteer Fire Department and rescue squad.
Sherborn is bordered by Framingham, Natick, Dover, Ashland, Holliston, Millis, Medfield.  Sherborn shares with Dover the high ranking public schools.  This is a very picturesque … (0 comments)

Natick Market Report - Includes South Natick 11/3/07 - 12/3/07
Natick is on the Charles and Concord Riverbank.  The land was granted to John Eliot as a plantation for his praying indians.  The Eliot Church is in the South Natick center which is very picturesque with a lovely waterfall just behind the Library.  There are many restaurants, plenty of shopping especially in the new mall in Natick on Route 9.  Great for convenience with major highways close by and commuter rail to Boston.

Dover Market Report for the 3 month period 9/3/07 -12/03/07
Dover is almost Needham to us who have lived here forever it seems but it is just 3 miles to the line from our home.  A beautiful, affluent community but yet close to major highways.  Dover was part of the original town of Dedham and established in the Springfield Parish of Dedham.  Dover has great schools and town services.  On my website link below there is information to link to for schools.  Dover is bordered by Westwood, Needham, Medfield, Sherborn, Natick, Walpole, and Wellesley.  It is just 16 miles to Boston.

wellesley: I have been elfed - 12/02/07 01:42 PM
December 2nd. Snow is falling.  We might have 3 inches.  It is to be expected so I thought I would dress for the occasion.
It is my favorite season of the year, except for the cold.  If only it snow without the cold it would be perfect.
