waterfront: Resolving conflict… a tip
- 01/18/16 04:08 AM
There’s a quote I keep in mind every time I help my clients navigate the tricky art of negotiations. It’s by Adriana Doyle, and it goes, “The only difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is the way in which we use them.” In a disagreement or negotiation, a great deal of energy is wasted focusing on where two parties disagree. Whether it’s a tussle between a buyer and seller or partners in a relationship, our worst instinct is often to hold fast and point out where opinions and conditions differ. It makes resolution seem almost impossible at the outset. Rather than beginning (1 comments)
waterfront: How to Protect Your Pipes in the Winter
- 01/07/16 11:43 PM
Live in an area where extreme cold is likely during the winter months? Don’t risk thousands of dollars in plumbing repairs… take the time to protect your pipes from bursting. When water freezes in your pipes, the ice expands, adding to the overall pressure in your home’s plumbing. When this force builds, it can cause pipes to split. In addition to plumbing repairs, you might find yourself on the hook for flooding damage, too. The pipes most at risk? Those exposed to the lowest temperatures, of course. This includes plumbing on the exterior of the home, in exterior walls, and exposed pipes (0 comments)
Use the right-sized boxes. Small boxes are ideal for heavy, dense objects (see: books), while larger ones are preferable for lighter items such as pillows and comforters. A large, heavy box is more likely to split or crush other items, so keep an eye on each boxes’ size-to-weight ratio. Fill until it’s still. If a box is rattling around, you’re risking damage. Fill in the empty space with towels, padding, or other cushioning items to isolate the valuable contents from stop/start or shaking motions. Pad and side-load dishes. Place bubble (0 comments)
Annapolis Real Estate and Relocation in Anne Arundel County, the Eastern Shore, and Maryland Mistake #3: Attempting to hide problems with your home. Be honest with your Realtor and your potential buyers with regards to the property relating to health, safety, or environment. It's common today for inspections to be a part of the sales contract, and during the inspections most problems will be discovered anyway, but hiding the truth can kill a sale and land you in court. It's much better to factor the costs of repairs into the sale rather than face lawsuits after the fact.
Annapolis Real Estate and Relocation in Anne Arundel County, the Eastern Shore, and Maryland Mistake #2: Insisting that your home is shown only when it is convenient for you. While no one wants their dinner disturbed by strangers trooping through the house, often the only time buyers can see your home is after work hours or on weekends. Plan ahead. Keep the house orderly and make time away from home. If possible, plan events to take weary children away from home showings. Sure, a last minute showing might be a minor inconvenience, but it also may be the last buyer who sees (1 comments)

Suppose you earn $5000 a month and you have a car payment of $400. At current interest rates (approximately 8% on a thirty-year fixed rate loan), you would qualify for approximately $55,000 less than if you did not have the car payment. Even if you feel you can afford the car payment, mortgage companies approve your mortgage based on their guidelines, not yours. Do not get discouraged, however. You should still take the time to get pre-qualified by a lender. However, if you have not already bought a car, (0 comments)

The Effect of Changing Jobs For most people, changing employers will not really affect your ability to qualify for a mortgage loan, especially if you are going to be earning more money. For some homebuyers, however, the effects of changing jobs can be disastrous to your loan application. How Changing Jobs Affects Buying a Home Salaried Employees If you are a salaried employee who does not earn additional income from commissions, bonuses, or over-time, switching employers should not create a problem. Just make sure to remain in the same line of work. Hopefully, you will be earning (1 comments)

Real Estate in Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay | The Land of Pleasant Living!
My real estate clients fall into two categories: 1) they want advice to help them on looking for their dream home that fits their budget, or 2) they want advice to help them in selling their home for top dollar in the right time frame. And I’m happy to give them that advise, and the 5-star home buying or selling experience they deserve.
I know the Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay area real estate market like the back of my hand… finding and assessing home values is like breathing. I also use home marketing strategies to get the best possible result, while negotiating awesome deals. When it comes to taking care of my real estate clients, I’m not happy until they give me a 5-star rating or review.
Now we might not be a fit… over the years I’ve found not everyone is looking for a 5-star experience. My clients like to be free of stress when buying or selling a home so they can focus on their move, and they want me to take care of the details.
Are you thinking of Buying or Selling a home in the Annapolis or Chesapeake Bay area? Want to invest in real estate in The Land of Pleasant Living? Let’s connect and start talking!
