running in naples: Marathon attempt.... well, 2nd attempt in the fall - 02/13/09 04:36 PM

Ok -- it has been a couple of weeks and I really have not yet recovered from my bruised ego since the attempt at the Miami Marathon in January. I trained and did all that was expected and..... I just had a bad day....not just a bad day... one of my worst running days I can remember ...... My body just didn't feel like my own and I ached and dragged myself over the 1/2 marathon finish line.... embarrassed and so disappointed.

ING Miami marathon is soon approaching. If you are a running with a firm foundation, you can still register, if you haven't been running too long, you still can run the 1/2. We should have wonderful weather as usual. Why not spend a weekend in the sun - flights are cheap and the sand is warm! Registration is filling up fast. 10,000 have already registered and they are only accepting 15,000.

Ok -- yes, it is Friday night and here I am with my computer (actually one of my better dates recently)--- but, I stayed home so I wouldn't be tempted to partake in too little sleep and one too many cocktails. Why you ask???? Because I am doing my first long run (only 6 miles since I just started) for my marathon training for January 25th in Miami. My first marathon! I am committed. Seems like a couple more have decided to run this race so I can't be the loser who makes up excuses all because I didn't train properly.
