HOLY WEEK, beginning with PALM SUNDAY and ending with EASTER SUNDAY is much more than a ‘COLLAGE’ of snapshots...It is more like a living PANORAMA of THE LAST DAYS OF JESUS...
Yes, we will celebrate and remember those events as they unfold, day by day, moment by moment...from HIS TRIUMPHAL ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM to THE LAST SUPPER WITH HIS FRIENDS to HIS AGONIZING CRUCIFIXION to JESUS’ FINAL TRIUMPH OVER DEATH ON EASTER SUNDAY...
We will see EXALTATION, SUBVERSION, JEALOUSY, BETRAYAL, SELFISHNESS, SELFLESSNESS, DENIAL, FEAR, INJUSTICE, SUPREME SACRIFICE, REMORSE, FORGIVENESS, and ULTIMATE VICTORY...

I was debating early this morning whether to post about GOD or President Obama...After all, the most important thing about today is that it is GOOD FRIDAY...!!!My decision was made quickly...GOD is way more RELIABLE, TRUSTWORTHY, TRUTHFUL, FAITHFUL, EDIFYING, & SAVING than our President has been for over three years now...In spite of G.O.D., the GREAT OBAMA DEPRESSION, I wish to dwell on THE ONE TRUE GOD...!!!IT IS GOOD FRIDAY...!!!When we urge our compatriots to ‘KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON CHRIST’, on this day there is no better image to conjure up than THE CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS...Even though we as Christians … (9 comments)

Why do Christians call the Friday before Easter 'GOOD' if that was the day the God they worship was crucified and died...??? The answer is quite simple...no cross...no crown...!!! Easter Sunday is the central focus upon which Christianity is based...the day when Jesus, the Christ, rose from the dead... Christians realize that unless Jesus suffered and died for us on Friday we would not be able to celebrate Christ's victory over death on Easter Sunday...Jesus had to die, once for all, to redeem mankind...and achieve victory over death and sin...

I stayed up late last night and watched the Pope celebrate Mass for Holy Thursday on EWTN, the Eternal Word Television Network, which we are fortunate to receive on our cable network! This service was particularly moving to watch as it contained the ritual of 'the washing of the feet' which symbolizes how Jesus washed the feet of His twelve Apostles giving them an example of what their mission would be...to serve the needs of all!
