Hurricane Sandy is still fresh on everyone's mind, and many are still at the very beginning of their journey of recovery. I read a small article about a Davie, FL woman that had her mobile home completely destroyed by Hurricane Wilma back in October of 2005. Like many homeowners, this woman didn't have the resources to replace or repair her home, so she has been waiting ever since for assistance.

The Town of Davie is one of the last semi-rural communities in South Florida, a remainder of what was once a small farming community. It is now home to more than 92,000 residents, and nearly all of the farms and groves that once stood there have now been replaced by residential or commercial development. Preservation of open space land for agriculture and wildlife habitat has become a top priority, so to further their goal, the Town of Davie bought almost 86 acres of undeveloped land that will be devoted to agricultural education and open space.

Davie Mayor Judy Paul would like to remind Town of Davie homeowners that the town is encouraging homeowners that are willing to plant gardens for butterflies and birds to do so.
