While the seasonally adjusted 2016 first quarter homeownership rate of 63.6% slipped from 63.7% in the last quarter of 2015, the long decline in homeownership is over. In the first quarter of 2015, the rate was 63.8%, just 0.2 percentage points above where it is now, its smallest January to January decline in six years. Moreover, the most recent decline is occurring despite two-thirds of new households being renters, primarily because most Millennials remain too young to buy. So they say the nations foreclosure inventory or 90 day delinquents (which means you're in foreclosure) have been declining. Nationwide the levels in some places have remained the same or worse. There are three states that have gotten worse New York, New Jersey and of course Florida . And I will give you one guess out of these three who leads the nation with the most delinquencies and foreclosures, one guess that's right it is Florida once again. After five consecutive months of increases, pending home sales slipped in June, and the same is happening in July – the highest number of pending home sales in over nine years, according to the National Association of Realtors®.
Modest gains in the Northeast and West were offset by larger declines in the Midwest and South.
