You know everyone is posting their pictures of cats and dogs..  I no longer have either , but if my 6 year old gets her way I am sure we will have a dog by May.
18 months or so ago a "friend" asked if we wanted a tortoise.  It was small so we took it.  It has tripled in size and still growing
The cool thing is "buddy" {An African Spurred Tortoise} is basically maintenance free.  He loves to eat grass, and Hibiscus flowers and Hibiscus leaves.  (all in the backyard)

The Family and I spent St. Valentines Day at the Renaissance Festival in Gold Canyon, AZ.
                                    
Was it romantic???  Probably not.
Was it Fun?   You bet!
Was the food good?  If you really searched for it you could find Greek food, or grilled Chicken
The Pickles were cold and crunchy!!
The Guinness was Cold and satisfying! 
We spent 7.5 hours there! 
We will be back next year!

Early this morning Cory McCloskey of Fox 10 News morning show landed in the Fox 10 helicopter at Ryan Elementary School.  The school is named after the parents of a local REALTOR and active Rainer Bill Ryan.
Audrey and her late husband Robert Ryan  raised their four sons in Chandler, along with running their family business and being very active in the community. One of their grand-daughters Hallie Ryan is my daughters 3rd grade teacher.  Pretty cool to work at a school that is named after your grand parents.

Last Thursday, Bill Risser and I of Chicago Title Insurance Company- Gilbert along with Shane Hollenback of the Veracity team at Prime Lending held a Clandestine Operation for several area agents
Their mission was to successfully navigate through our entire series of workshops in one day. A boot camp of sorts.
From the start we had our doubts if it could be done successfully.  We could easily cover the material that fast, but we wanted the agents to be comfortable using each medium and excited about it as well.

Actually the Mayan calendar ends on December 21st 2012, that would be after the convention.
 Last week (Jan 14)  Phoenix submitted its initial bid to land the Republican National Convention. (2012) 
Mayor Phil Gordon also notified the Democrats that he is going to try for their National Convention too. (2012)

The Convention in Denver where Obama accepted the nomination generated $266 MILLION for the city.
If we win either of the conventions it will be a great way to showcase our city, and infuse some much needed cash to our local economy.

But we only have to wait until until Feb 6th (8pm Eastern FOX TV) for the Daytona Shootout when we hear those 4 famous word.  "Gentlemen Start Your Engines"  
Feb 11th we have the duals that set the rest of the field for the Daytona 500.
Then 1pm. on February 14th the Great Race!  The Daytona 500 (1pm Eastern)
What is up this year?
Will the spoiler come back to the  cup cars  and trash the wing?
Will Richard Petty Motorsports merge with Yates Racing?
Will Danika Patrick make her debut in her Nationwide Series car at Daytona or Fontana?

Yesterday in Tempe  Arizona as part of the Rock and Roll Marathon, an event called kids rock was held.

Kids from K-8 Grade run a total of 25.2 miles over several months prior to this event.  Then the kids run the last mile (non-competitively) and everyone gets a medal for finishing.  A very nice looking medal!

Phoenix!  There is a new show starting on Tuesday afternoon January 19th If you are working set the VCR, TIVO, DVR etc.
It is a lifestyle show from 4:30 to 5:00pm Channel 12 with Tram Mai  
It is slated to be a fun show, with inexpensive easy meals, Pet pride, exciting and fun places to go!

My Neighbor had to let her nanny go, and has asked friends to help out.  My wife takes the Tuesday shift 11:30pm to 9:00 am,
That leaves me at home to get the kids (6 and 8) ready for school and delivered by 7:30 am. 
Not as easy as it sounds...and Thankless!
I had it so easy before...Get up eat , get ready and leave for work whenever I wanted 4 am, 7 am not a problem just get ready and go.

Arizona's property taxes cover the calendar year even though an actual bill is not issued until mid to late August.  The first half taxes are due October 1 and delinquent November 2 after 5:00 p.m.  The second half taxes are due March 1 of the following year and delinquent May 3 after 5:00 p.m.  (The full year taxes can be paid by December 31 with no penalty on the first half). 
Now that we have the basic information for taxes, two simple scenarios follow:

I have an exciting story to share! 
I took the week between Christmas and January 4th off to spend "Quality Time" with my family.  Living in the desert doesn't give my children too much opportunity to play in the snow.
