When you get it, do you enjoy it? - 09/29/09 05:52 AM
Are you working too hard to enjoy what you have? I see so many people that seem to have it all but look to always be in the office till the wee hours trying to keep it. Are we on the hamster wheel of life.
Don't get me wrong, a strong work ethic is key to achieving your goals. That key is knowing when you're pushing too hard. You do have to keep the money coming in however you will start to feel resentful of others if you don't reassess your work load. Maybe you should look at some alternatives;

Monday afternoon Humor, well sort of - 09/28/09 02:10 PM
Stevie Wonder and Tiger Woods are in a bar. Tiger turns to Stevie and says, 'How's the singing career going?'   Stevie replies, 'Not too bad. How's the golf?'
Woods replies, 'Not too bad, I've had some problems with my swing, but I  think I've got that right, now.'  Stevie says, 'I always find that when my swing goes wrong, I need to stop playing for a while and not think about it. Then, the next time I play, it seems to be all right.'
Tiger says, 'You play GOLF?'
Stevie says, 'Yes, I've been playing for years.'
Tiger says, 'But -- … (9 comments)

RainCamp Seattle, I'll be there, How about you! - 09/23/09 02:47 PM

I cleared my calendar, so I can attend. Sometimes in life you just have to go for it. I need some new tools to compete in this market and I’m sure we all would like to see, what’s up and will it work for me.
I am so looking forward to putting names with faces. I‘ve read so many posts from so many of the attendees; it is going to be fun to get Charles Buell’s autograph.
As you read Brad’s post;   http://activerain.com/blogsview/1248637/raincamp-our-new-training-program-starts-in-seattle-wa  you’ll see they are taking this show on the road. We are the guinea pigs and by … (3 comments)

Monday Morning Inspiration, Lombardi - 09/21/09 10:29 AM
My weekend was not very busy this last week. I am Raring to go this week. I needed a great quote to start my Monday...
"There's only one way to succeed in anything and that is to give everything." - Vince Lombardi
Each week, I read several Monday morning motivators.  I really liked
Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder... by Michael Thornton. I also seek out others to brighten each day. I find this puts me in the right state of mind to tackle the challenges of the week to come... Thank-you for all of your posts that … (6 comments)

Cute vs. Professional - 09/19/09 02:38 PM
Crazy as it may sound, some agents have a problem drawing the line between cute and professional.
I got a call the other day that an offer was coming in. (YEAH!) Since it was a Thursday evening and my clients were leaving for the weekend I had to grab the offer off the fax and run to meet my client in a hurry. I got to the client’s house, took the offer out of the file folder and started to review the papers with my seller. In the purchase and sale agreement was the agent’s child’s homework from page 4 … (10 comments)

Are laws meant to be broken? - 09/18/09 03:40 PM
Our lawmakers love to pass laws and ordinances but they are seldom upheld 6 months after their conception. Why do they go to the trouble?
We have a cell phone law yet I even see the police officers talking and texting as they drive down the road... We have a horn law; we are not supposed to honk our horns unless it is an emergency... We have a tinted windows law to protect our police officers as they walk up to pulled over vehicle yet a block from the police station you can see shops advertising and installing black out tinted … (7 comments)

Instead of doing the Capital Hill Two Step, Let’s Cha Cha! - 09/18/09 05:30 AM

Can the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reinvent itself? Instead of being reactive and supporting lame legislation, I for one, as a member, call on the leadership of the National Association of Realtors to become proactive. We do have the connections on both sides of the isle in Congress to help write some viable legislation that could help make a difference.
I believe that calling on Realtors ® to support an extension of the home buyer credit is a mistake. We, as members, should be contacting our elected officials to ask them to call on NAR to help enact … (2 comments)

For god’s sake, let’s move on! - 09/17/09 05:47 AM

All this talk about extending the $8000 tax credit makes my skin crawl. Every time I see this on TV my phone quits ringing. Extending, does take the urgency out of the program which will make the true fence sitters extremely happy. Why make a decision today, when you can wait 6 months?
Maybe I’ve been too harsh on the fence sitters. Maybe these people actually want to live within their means. Credit got us into this mess, can it bail us out?
Are the fence sitters really indecisive or is it they can’t qualify for a home loan. … (50 comments)

Old is not dumb or weak - old is just old! - 09/08/09 09:44 PM

A strong young man at a construction site was bragging that he could out-do anyone in a feat of strength.  He made his case by making fun of one of the older workmen.

After several minutes, the older worker had enough. “Why don't you put your money where your mouth is,” he said. “I'll bet you a week's wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that building that you won't be able to wheel back.”

“You're on, old man,” the braggart replied. “Let's see you do it.”

The old man reached … (17 comments)

When home inspections surprise everyone! - 09/07/09 05:10 AM
I have always happily attended home inspections. I always learn something about construction, code enforcement, and society in general.
It is so important to get a home inspection. It’s nothing personal against the Seller and it shouldn’t be a matter of contention. I explain it as a snapshot of the condition of the house at the time of the inspection to my Buyers. My Buyers always walk away with a better understanding of what they are buying.
My buyers selected a very well known home inspector in our area. I have used him before and respect him as a professional. He … (55 comments)

Why doesn’t, I told you so, feel very rewarding? - 09/05/09 01:09 AM

In a post last week, Give me a break!, I blogged about an owner/agent who was selling his own property. My client fell in love with his townhouse and we made an offer. He countered and reveled at the fact that a year ago the unit next door sold for $15k more than his asking price. The counter offer was consistent with his belief.
We did the counter dance and came up with a meeting of the minds. As I said in the last post, you need to price your property to the area market not what it was … (12 comments)

Is the grass really greener or do we need fertilizer? - 09/01/09 05:36 AM
Congratulations, you work in one of the few businesses where, for the most part, you can choose where you're going to work. The question is how did you choose where you are working right now? Was it?
The cost of doing business The work environment (Broker, Other Agents) The office location The company name or franchise I like to ask questions of other agents. I have found that the agents that say they are unhappy at work can't answer the simple questions,
What drew you to the office you work at? Does it feel right to you? Is your work suffering? I'm … (15 comments)
