On Christmas Eve, our family lost a close friend!

He will be missed!
Smedley went into the emergency room on Christmas Eve after showing stomach problems. He was operated on and found his stomach was to far gone and was put down to keep him from suffering any further!

What do you prefer? There has been a lot of talk about Open Houses as of late, but what do you prefer. A empty house that is vacant or a house that is occupied? There is a lot to be said for a blank slate empty house except;
Some people can't picture a empty house with furniture, let alone their furniture in it  An empty home tends to show every little flaw in a room and every spec of dirt Then there is the the house where the occupants idea of clean doesn't fit with what the rest of the world's … (9 comments)

Does a decorated house show better than one that is not decorated? There is something about the lights and smells of Christmas that seem to put smiles on my client's faces.
I think it might be the ultimate staging theme.
You are basically playing the odds of those who celebrate Christmas and those who don't.
A recent survey showed that 69% of those Americans surveyed celebrated Christmas. This survey also related that another 6% of those who did not celebrate Christmas, were not offended by Christmas decorations. Would it help if the banks had to see faces instead of just numbers?
How easy would it be if ever thing in life was just a number! Nothing personal, we wouldn't even need eyes.
This is how I feel when I talk to an underwriter some times. I know we are the top file on top of a tall stack of files. Its 5:00 PM someplace and your file won't close tomorrow as it was written in the contract.
We are the ones that get to see the faces and try to explain at the last minute why;

In olden times, at around 12:30 AM each morning, a strange and wondrous sign would appear.   Our TV sets across the nation would sign off. You would see this right after you would hear the national anthem.

Now, in place of this practice you get endless infomercials selling everything from the latest get rich quick through real estate to chicks gone wild.
I often miss that test screen, how about you?

Home Inspectors, of all of the thankless jobs! - 12/10/09 10:55 AM
On my LinkedIn update this morning I noticed a blog post entitled, Things the average dumb as a bag of hammers, Home Inspector will never notice. This was posted as just being published on ActiveRain by a person I subscribe to. I went to her blog and did not find such a post!
I'm sorry, but of all the professions I run across in this business, Home Inspectors are the most belittled. A Professional Home Inspector has to be so knowledgeable that you will never see me slam his or her integrity!

I can, it really changed my world. I can still remember waiting for her at the store. Waiting for her to come in after months of reading about all she could do for me. The moment she arrived I raced home with her and placed her on the kitchen table flush with anticipation.

The saying, "It's always darkest before the dawn" rains true for me right now. Past customers, clients and friends have begun to call to invest in real estate! Several had used a relative, who now has faded from the business, in lieu of me in the past couple of years. Because of my keeping connected through cards, e-mails and phone calls, I am now flush with new work.
Flush is not totally accurate but 2 listings and 2 new buyers this weekend feels like I am in the ballpark if not totally in the game. October and November were tough but … (9 comments)

Lost not Forgotten - 12/03/09 12:11 PM
 
Well, it has been a sad couple of days in Lakewood Washington, where I have lived for the past 30 years. We lost 4 police officers to a career criminal last Sunday morning. The most horrible part of this whole crime is that these officers never had any dealings with this man; he was just out to kill police officers.
Lakewood is not immune to heroes coming home. We are the home of Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base and have lost many a son and daughter to our countries wars. But this was different, these officers were not … (12 comments)
