With many people without jobs, heath care is a major concern. AmeriCares provides health care for low income uninsured families and individuals. They have top notch medical professionals who are committed to taking care of people in the community.  There are 406 volunteers (213 of them are medical doctors) volunteering their time. There is a clinic in Danbury, Norwalk and Bridgeport. The AmeriCares' medical bus covers Bethel and New Milford. This program is supported by Danbury and New Milford hospitals,  Boehringer Ingelheim, Danbury Office of Physician Services, The City of Danbury and many more. Friends of Karen
I learned about a wonderful Organization this week. Friend of Karen is a nonprofit organization that supports families of children with life-threatening illnesses. They help with household and medical expenses, transportation to and from treatments, childcare and support for siblings, psychosocial support and much more.  They support families in CT and NY and make a significant difference in families lives.  Several years ago, my cousin was diagnosed with leukemia and unfortunately he lost his battle with the disease.
