Denim and Diamonds Gala in Kingwood,TX benefiting Family Time

Keller Williams Realty is hosting the Denim and Diamonds Gala on New Year's Eve at the Marriott Intercontinental Airport hotel on New Year's Eve from 8:00 pm until 1:00 am. The event will bebefit Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center in Humble, Texas. Family Time is a non profit organization that provides an array of services for familiea as well as a shelter for women called "The Door."

The event includes entertainment by the Easy Money Band, dinner, dancing, champagne toast at midnight and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $125 a piece, or a table is $1,250. Live auctions items consist of a Nilgai hunting trip on the King Ranch, a cruise and many other great opportunities.

Is there radiation in granite? Many people are asking themselves that very question. An article in the Houston Chronicle, dated July 26th, 2008, in the City and State section discusses this very topic. There is a lot of conflicting information on the Internet. Basically, studies from this article show that Brazilian granite tends to have the highest levels of radiation. They have not come out with the different types that may pose a threat to consumers. My husband and I went on our Sunday quest for great food in the Humble/Kingwood area. Boy-did we sure find it. Mangia Pasta is located in the old Pasta Company restaurant at 4590 Kingwood Drive. We drove by many times and did not stop due to the fact that we thought it was going to taste like Pasta Company. Well, it clearly doesn't. We shared he "Insalata Della Casa" or the house salad. It has baby greens, caramelized walnuts, creamy gorgonzola cheese, tomatoes, and fantastic special dressing. Next we ventured to the good old fettuccine alfredo, which ranks up there in out top 5. It has their house specialty Parmesan cream sauce on the noodles. We added shrimp, but it would have been just as good without it. We also treated ourselves to their homemade Italian bread pudding. It was the best bread pudding we have ever had. It is made with brioveli bread, thin slices apples, and orange zest and cooked in a cream sauce. It is a must have. They were out of the creme brule, so we will have to go back. Where else do they serve creme brule in Kingwood?

Great Kingwood Restaurant-Los Cucos, 23730 Hwy 59 N

I went to Los Cucos with my husband on Sunday and had amazing food. We had the chicken soup and fajita beef taco. It comes with rice and beans and endless chips and hot sauce. Also, they had an option to a brunch buffet for 11.99 that looked quite tempting. From the looks of the crowd, it appears that it is not a Kingwood, TX secret.

The staff is very attentive and the facility is very clean. It is a great addition to upfront Kingwood. You will not be dissapointed.
