During this Thanksgiving holiday, I stopped to realize how "Thankful" I am to be involved with ShopToEarn...my successful internet business.  I also realized that there are ALOT of Americans struggling to keep their jobs or have recently lost their jobs.

The reasons why I am thankful and grateful:

  • I have a flexible schedule that allows me to spend more time with family and friends and allows me to work when I want.
  • I get cash back on everything I buy from my website...which means, no pressure to run to the malls on Black Friday!  I'm finding GREAT deals from the comfort of my computer!
  • I am helping the planet by buying "green and environmentally friendly" products that are good for me and good for the environment.  All conveniently located on my computer and I get cash back and great prices, too!
  • I help non-profit organizations use ShopToEarn as a fantastic fundraising tool so they can effectively raise money in a tough economy.
  • I help others build their own successful ShopToEarn business so they can get out of financial debt and realize more life goals.
  • I am building residual income so that I can work less and earn more!
  • I own my own business so I don't have to worry about layoffs, cutbacks or down-sizing.

This is the first time in my life that I am not dependent on an employer to control my income, my hours, my goals...MY LIFE!   I am out of the rut of trying to make ends meet!  Thank you, ShopToEarn!

That was the depressing question that faced me two months ago.  After 25 years in the mortgage industry, this is what my career had come to?  I guess I should have realized that months of "commission only" and hoping that next month would be better...got me into the mess I was in.  But I refused to be another "foreclosure victim" especially since I have always valued my great credit score and being a good credit risk.

So, I decided to take action, and fast!  I was introduced to a company that is setting growth records and thriving in this economy.....YES, there actually is a company out there that is doing really well!

I jumped in and decided to put my efforts where the money is.  Have I abandoned my mortgage business...No.  BUT, I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I AM MAKING MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE MY MORTGAGE PAYMENT AND MY INCOME IS INCREASING EVERY MONTH!  AFTER JUST TWO MONTHS!

So, my point is, don't pass by other opportunities that may come along because you have your feet so firmly planted in an industry that is just not providing the income it once was.  I loved my career in the mortgage business, but now I have come to realize that I love the freedom and income my new business provides me.

Broaden your mind to businesses that you thought you'd NEVER consider.  You'd be surprised how these business models are surviving in the "perfect storm" of economic crisis'.

Don't wait until your savings and 401k plans are depleted....sometimes, it's better to jump than to hang on!

Persistence is a trait that can be viewed by others as either positive or negative.  I like to refer to the positive meaning of this trait as "Polite Persistence".   It has been what has kept me in the forefront of my competitors and clients in the mortgage industry and helped me launch my second successful business which is growing beyond my wildest expectations.

A good follow-up system is key to working with leads.  ALWAYS obtain a prospects email or phone number so that you establish control of sending them information.  Do not rely on someone saving your business card and taking it upon themselves to contact you if they need you.  Follow-ups should be short and sweet.  Offering them little tid-bits of information about your services.  I have a series of "tickler" emails for my prospects.

This tough market weeds out those who are not thick-skinned and hard working.  Persistence will be recognized and rewarded by those whom you ask for business.  They will see that you are in your career for the long haul and that you are confident in your abilities.

The persistent turtles will win the race over the "I want it now" hares!

To mutual success!

No matter what job or profession you're in, it's hard to stay positive in this economy. Even if you are a stay at home mom or dad, you are bombarded daily with news that can make anyone want to pull the covers over their head.

For me, it requires effort to remain positive! Here are some suggestions that may help you, too.

1. Find a book that has positive messages in it.  For me, it is the Bible. There are so many passages to discover about God's love and protection. There are also many devotional books where you can read a short story each day. The "Chicken Soup" books are great. Another great book is "The Power of Being Positive" by Joyce Meyer....you definately will find power for daily living in this book. Or try a little book called "No limits but the Sky" (a Hallmark Gift Book) that is so uplifting.

2. Turn off the news channels and shows that sensationalize current events and promote fear.

3. Keep plugging along.  Don't stick your head in the sand and think that problems will go away. They will only get worse. Tackle problems head on and go into action! Perseverance does pay off!

4. Make a list!  Make a daily list of things to get done or write down weekly, monthly or annual goals. Keep that list in a place where you see it everyday! There is a sense of accomplishment when you can check off an item on your list!

5. Find a theme song.  This may sound funny but find a song that you like that has a positive message to it. Play it in your car, on your iPod or whenever you are falling in the trap of stinkin' thinkin'! Mine is: Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" .....the lyrics are: "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright"! You will be amazed at how a song can change your whole outlook.

6. There's joy in the little things!  How do you eat an elephant?....one bite at a time! Don't become overwhelmed by looking at the big picture. Find joy in the little daily treasures that life sends to us. So many people over look these and miss what life is really all about. A flower blooming, a bird singing, a baby's laugh, a funny joke, an ice cream cone. Focus on these moments or make sure to create them each day.

7. Volunteer. We all feel good when we help others. Best of all, it's free. Visit with an elderly person and read to them. Volunteer at your local humane society....free puppy kisses! Serve food to the homeless through a local church or organization. Take dinner to someone you know who is sick or overwhelmed. Make or buy cookies and give them to your neighbor or friend who needs a pick me up. PAY IT FORWARD! We've all received a kindness from someone at one time in our lives.....return the favor to a stranger.

8. Grow something! Plant something and get a sense of accomplishment as you watch it grow! Plant a Christmas lily and keep indoors. Start an indoor herb garden. Depending on the time of year.....you can plant a full outdoor garden or bury bulbs and wait for spring to arrive!

9. Get outdoors! There's nothing like a brisk walk to get the endorphins going and feel-good seratonin multiplying. Start with small distances and work up to at least a mile 3-4 times a week. This will shake off the dulldrums in no time.

10. Smile (even if you don't want to) The gift of a smile is always welcomed. The grocery store clerk, the teacher, the guy that hands you your morning coffee....all will take notice of your new found cheer and reciprocate. You'll be surprised how fast this will lift your spirits!

Lately, it seems like everyone I talk to is either really scared about the economy or they are in a state of denial and have their rose-colored glasses on.

Don't get me wrong, I am the world's biggest believer that the glass is always half full!   But, I think everyone is a little shell-shocked and paralized by some degree of fear!  Now is the time to take off the glasses and go into action.  Here are some things to consider:

  • Are you spending more time, money and energy in your career than you are getting back in results and/or income?
  • Are you wasting valuable time waiting for the market to turnaround?
  • Are your bills piling up waiting for your next commission check that rarely comes anymore?
  • Are you increasing your debt every month because you think this is THE month that will turn things around?

Everyone knows the definition of insanity:  Doing the same thing but expecting different results!

Not too long ago, I had to give myself a reality check and wake up and make a change!

I had to look outside my mortgage industry for a business opportunity that I can work without abandoning my career.  I found a business that offers:

  • Up and running within 15 minutes!
  • Work from home or office at my computer
  • Low start up cost with no monthly expenses, employees or inventory!
  • Recession proof!
  • A way to SAVE money and EARN money!
  • Residual income that is mind-boggling

Is this network marketing?  You betcha, but not like anything you've ever heard of before!  I don't sell lotions, potions, vitamins, magic juices or any other product that I have to do demonstrations for.  I don't have to "sell" anything.  What I offer is a way for people to save money by buying everyday items online at the largest shopping portal on the internet.

Everyone needs to take action to protect their financial status in this economy.  Are the financial institutions going to help you with that?........NO!

It's up to each individual to get their head out of the sand and do something before the hole is too big to get out of!

Hello fellow mortgage professionals..........are you finding it harder and harder to hang in there in these troubled economic times in an industry that has seen so much loss of business?

I am a 25 year mortgage professional and I LOVE the mortgage business but have had to look outside my beloved field just to make ends meet!

Don't get me wrong, I still have my mortgage business as my first priority and gladly answer the phone when it rings......but it just isn't ringing very much these days.  Guidelines are getting tougher, borrower confidence is decreasing.....people are scared and are not making big financial decisions right now.

I discovered a business where I can divide my time and energy between both entities and make great money in my new business so that I don't have to completely abandon mortgage banking.  And I'm having a blast running my own business!

I can show you how!  This is a legitimate business opportunity!  No scams, schemes or unprofessional practices.  No selling of lotions, potions, vitamins or magic juices!  Just offering a lifeline to people who are struggling in this economy......aren't we all?

As a Mortgage Professional who has been in this industry for over 25 years, I've seen it all!

I've endured the many cycles of expansion and contraction that have occurred since 1981 and that has made me very flexible and able to change with the market.

What amazes me about this current lending environment is that most of the people who are complaining about discontinued loan products are the ones who have jumped into the industry in the past 5 years!  They were in it for the quick money and failed to put the time into learning their craft.  Greed and the opportunistic traders on Wall Street created a lending situation that has proven to be devastating for borrowers.  The foreclosure epidemic is a  symptom of loan products being sold without full disclosure of future adjustments and borrowers buying homes they could not afford.

IT IS TIME TO GET BACK TO BASICS OF GOOD SOUND LENDING!   My goal has always been to educate the borrower about their options and fully disclose fees and loan programs.  There are no surprises at the closing table!

I believe that the cream always rises to the top.  In tough lending times, the inexperienced get out of the business and the seasoned loan officers rely on their expertise and experience to face the challenge.

My passion for this business and for helping borrowers keeps me focused on providing the best service and product possible.

Please feel free to contact me with any lending needs or questions.
