Bank of Canada leaves Interest Rates with Under-performing Economy - 07/19/12 07:17 AM
The Bank of Canada announced on Tuesday that the overnight lending rate will remain at 1% at least until the next policy meeting on September 5th.  The overnight target interest rate has now set a new record for remaining unchanged a total of 678 days.
Economists feel that the announcement comes as no surprise with the current state of the economy.  Since the last policy meeting in April global financial conditions have deteriorated, national housing activity is forecasted to slow, Canadian exports are projected to remain below the pre-recession peak into 2014 and not surprisingly our economy has not rebounded … (1 comments)
