Opening day of the PEI Lobster Season in Prince Edward Island, Canada...see below picture of lobster boat heading out to the Lobster grounds with the view of a golden sunrise...yours truly was helping a friend on the opening day. It was a great chance to mingle with the local fishermen to see if they had any PEI Real Estate needs. The historic lighthouse in Beach Point, Prince Edward Island, Canada that was displaced from its location by a storm/tidal surge took the first step in returning to its original location. Yesterday (May 30, 2011) the lighthouse was hauled from its position at the Beach Point parking yard to within a few hundred feet of where it will once again be at the entrance to the harbour. The Federal Department of Fisheries & Oceans will build a base for it very close to its original position. The lighhouse should be ready around the last of June, 2011. This is great news (1 comments)

Historic in every sense is the Cape Bear Lighthouse in scenic Cape Bear, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located on the Northumberland Strait in Southeastern Prince Edward Island. Presently it is open as a very busy tourist operation that brings many visitors to its doors. The lighthouse was built by John Whalen in 1880 on land that was purchased from Thomas Munn who became the first Keeper of the lighhouse. William Harris & Martin Luther Jordan (my grandfather) succeeded Mr Munn as keepers. Hiram Hyde became the 4th keeper of the lighthouse, and Clarence White was the 5th being replaced (4 comments)

The great country of Canada is presently in the start of a Federal Election because of a lack of confidence in the Progressive Conservative government headed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Canada, for the last number of years, has been ruled by a minority government including the Liberals, New Democratic Party, and the separatist Bloc Party representing the province of Quebec. Prime Minister Harper is looking for a majority government so that he can bring Canada out of its deficit and give greater financial security to its citizens. The PEI Real Estate market in Prince Edward Island, Canada is "not on life support", it is dynamic and energized, but it could be that much better if the American investors came back in full force. In the past when the American dollar was much stronger than the Canadian dollar, many American investors purchased good properties in PEI, especially many of the great oceanfronts that line the periphery of the province. For many years the picturesque Beach Point Lighthouse stood at the entrance to the Murray Bay in southeastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was the beacon to the many PEI fishermen who had to navigate in to the many fishing wharfs such as Beach Point, Murray Harbour, Murray River, etc. Recently due to a rare storm surge/nor'easter, the lighthouse was dislodged from its cement foundation and carried by the waves to rest on a nearby beach. Jack Frost Children's Winterfest is a poplar event for children and the whole family in the scenic capital city of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The 17th Annual Abegweit Pow-Wow took place from the Panmure Island Cultural Grounds in Panmure Island, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The Pow-Wow reunites Aboriginal peoples from across Canada. Jimmy Augustine from Elsipogtog, New Brunswick was the Master of Ceremonies for the great event. A Pow-Wow is a rejoicing of life through a feast and dance to the "Heart Beat of Mother Earth" represented in the Sacred Drum. The drummers are the Stoney Bear Singers from Eskasoni, Nova Scotia. Some facts on Canada: - Canada doesn't have the greatest army in the world, but it is powerful because it is the largest supplier of crude oil to the United States of America. - It has a government run, universal health care for all of its citizens. - Canada has the most stable banking system in the world. - Canada is a strong believer in the Rights of Minorities. In the year 2000, the average price of a recreational property in PEI was $48,360. In contrast, by the end of 2007, the value had increased to $120,620., an increase of nearly 150%. Going along with the higher prices, was also an increased level of sales of properties. In 2000 the number of recreational properties sold in PEI was 76, by the end of 2007, the number of recreational property units sold was an astonishing 131 units.
