County foreclosures up 11% over January
Foreclosures in San Diego County increased 11 percent last month, signaling a return to business as usual after a self-imposed slowdown by the mortgage industry.
The MDA DataQuick research firm yesterday reported 1,232 foreclosures in February, an 11 percent jump over January, but a decline of 6.4 percent from February 2008.

Rise in Foreclosures 'a Shock' - 03/14/09 01:27 PM

February saw an unexpected jump in foreclosure filings as the weak economy puts more pressure on borrowers.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The foreclosure picture suddenly darkened again in February.
More than 74,000 homes were lost to bank repossessions during the month, up from 67,000 in January, according to a regular monthly report from RealtyTrac, the online marketer of foreclosed properties. Nearly 1.2 million have been lost since the foreclosure crisis hit in August 2007.
The number of foreclosure filings rose 6% during the month after falling 10% in January. Worse, filings leaped nearly 30% compared with February 2008. And the … (1 comments)
