You must have a signed contract by the end of April to claim the credit and close prior to the end of June. For first timers the credit is up to $8000. For current owners purchasing a new owner occupied home the credit is $6500. Mortgage rates are still low. It is a buyers market. Work with an experienced Realtor, but first get pre-approved, and find the home of your dreams.
