There are several houses for sale in the delightful resort of Renegade Mountain in Cumberland County Tennessee. Many of the residents built a home there over twenty years ago and still enjoy the fantastic views down to Crossville and beyond. The elevation at the top is 2,500 ft and there was once a ski resort in the first few years of it's existence. A golf course is in place but not in use any more which is a pity as it was enjoyed by many of the residents. There are several condominiums, they vary in size from 2 bedroom 1 bath … (1 comments)

crossville tennessee: The World's Largest Tree House - 06/07/11 08:20 AM
Crossville, Tennessee is home to the world's largest tree house, or so it seems. This is a local hotspot for many people and it is such an awesome sight to see. I went and saw it for myself, it was simply breathtaking; not just because I climbed all nine flights of stairs either.
This place was huge! It had many compartments in it that made it so unique. There is a humongous bell at the top to ring--if you can climb that high--along with a mini church on the third floor. This is not just any old church. It is equipped … (5 comments)

crossville tennessee: Snow in Tennessee - 01/11/11 03:49 AM
                                               SNOW IN TENNESSEE

It is beautiful outside, everything white and pristine. Snow tips the limbs on the trees and bushes giving a snow kissed scene. I know most people do not like the snow for it inhibits you from getting anywhere. The roads are fine here!

Crossville does a great job cleaning the roads so you can get any where you need to go. Some of the back roads are still slick but the main roads are clear. If you are trying to decide whether Tennessee is the place for you to move to-do not … (2 comments)

crossville tennessee: New Library With a Wonderful History - 08/19/10 04:46 AM
New Library with a Wonderful History
Crossville, Tennessee has a brand new library facility and it is absolutely gorgeous.  It literally just opened a few months ago and is such a great part of this growing community.  I was reading through the Chamber of Commerce magazine the other day and I was able to find a whole article dedicated to the history of this place.

Every story has a beginning and this place is not any different.  It all started back in 1898.  More than a hundred years ago, a group of women decided to get together and discuss politics, … (0 comments)

crossville tennessee: Crossville is Home to the U.S. Chess Federation - 08/02/10 09:50 AM
Crossville is Home to the U.S. Chess Federation
I am in no way good at chess and do not even know how to play but Crossville, Tennessee has made a name for itself.  The United States Chess Federation has chosen Crossville, Tennessee as its main headquarters.  The bid was chosen in 2004.  This is a great honor to be picked.  Other towns that were bidding on this honor included Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Palm Beach; but Crossville won.

In 2005, the building was completed and is still running and operating today in full swing.  People from all over the … (0 comments)

crossville tennessee: Crossville, Tennessee is Locally Thriving - 07/28/10 04:08 AM
Crossville, Tennessee is Locally Thriving
One of the things I have noticed recently in this area, is the amount of locally owned businesses.  I guess I have always seen them but I now realize how popular they are.  It seems like everywhere you look, there are businesses that have been owned and operated for years by families of this community.
I think that it  is great that this growing town still supports these businesses.  What is funny is  to also think about  the competition that these places put out.  I visited a local baby store the other day and found out … (0 comments)

Cumberland Mountain State Park

Throughout Tennessee, there are many well known parks. In fact, TN is probably best known for a park-The Great Smoky Mountains. Even though everywhere you look, you can probably find a park or other recreational place, I urge you to stop by the Cumberland Mountain State Park in Cumberland County.
Cumberland County has over 5 parks total but the State Park is probably the most visited and is by far the largest. This park is full of various activities to do for the whole family. It is open all year round and includes a five star … (2 comments)

crossville tennessee: The Crossville Depot - 07/02/10 05:24 AM
 Crossville Depot

The Crossville Depot is one of the more important landmarks of the Crossville Tennessee area. It was first built in 1900 and was a crucial place for many train routes to pass through. The first train that landed at the Depot, was in September of 1900. The building of the Crossville Depot was not completed, so a boxcar served as the station until the main building was completed. For many years, this was the happening spot for many visiting trains and people making Crossville a highly successful town and rich in goods during the prime time of the … (0 comments)
