Retiree Growth Continues in Cumberland County Despite the recession,retiree growth continues in Cumberland County Tennessee. Don Alexander from the Crossville Tennesse Housing Authority says, "We've been recruiting practically from the beginning of time".Retirees are responding to this effort for the cost of living is so low compared to other areas of the country. Cumberland County has the lowest tax structure in the state. In the 60's, Lake Tansi was created for retirees and soon to follow was Fairfield Glade . Retire to Tennessee I have been doing some research lately on what retirees look for in a home and I have found out some interesting facts. A great article I found was by John Brady on TopRetiements.com. He suggested that the most important things a retiree looked for while buying are the amount of taxes, cost of living, and the region. A poll was taken and 58% said that lower taxes were the key to finding a perfect place. Times will be changing while the Baby Boomers start to retire. If you were born between 1946 and 1964-YOU are a Baby Boomer. There are 76 million of us strong!
