autumn: The First 2023 Fall Leaf Made A Touchdown - 10/08/23 01:07 PM
The first Fall Leaf for October 2023 made a touchdown in my backyard. The color of the leaf gave me a pumpkin kind of smile and my heart began to race while I thought about what the changing of the seasons meant. So, I stretched out on the St. Augustine Grass and my head was full of wonder.
Getting down to grass at leaf eye level, I saw blades of green and scorched brown too preparing for the dormant season of winter. It was a quiet, peaceful afternoon. I enjoyed every blade of grass I could see until I spied a butterfly … (16 comments)

autumn: 2022 Fall Collection of Trees - 11/02/22 07:30 PM
November 3, 2022
Trees have peaked earlier than previous years in North Central Texas. Days are warmer too. Experiencing peak season for Autumn leaves is as welcoming as a mother's early birth of a child.

All trees in this collection of Fall Trees were photographed at the Dallas Arboretum. I love visiting the Dallas Arboretum to take photos. Trees must always be maintained. At the Arboretum, trees are well cared for by professional Tree Arborists. Visitors can get a good idea of what grows well in proportion to size. A general good piece of advice when planting trees for the home, is to … (16 comments)

autumn: The Smells of Autumn are Delicious! - 10/21/22 01:30 PM
We are enjoying cooler mornings and warm afternoons with cooler night temperatures. After some rain, the Autumn smells are absolutely delicious. There is something special about walking on the ground in Fall and smelling the scents of Autumn. Between the colors, sounds, and smells our senses are on full alert. Change is all around!
Coming back home from Belton I took time to visit the Nature Center in Belton, Texas. My feet were planted firmly on the ground and not walking on a concrete path through manicured botanical gardens. The sights, sounds, and smells of nature were filled with discovery. For me, … (7 comments)

autumn: Autumn Breeze and Delicious Cheese - 10/16/22 04:50 PM
Flower Mound, TX finally received a fair amount of rain. Autumnal air has a tropical scent; fresh, sweet, and nutty. According to science, "The drop in air temperature and humidity," is responsible for "natural seasonal scents." Autumn is appealing to all five senses. By the way, I was so inspired by the sign displaying cheese in the grocery store, I lost my thoughts about what I needed to buy and started composing in my head:

These are the days for pretty trees and autumn leaves, a slice of cheese, and a time to say please---Patricia Feager

autumn: October Is Time For Work - Can You Dig It? - 10/04/22 06:06 AM
If you plant it, it will grow... or at least you hope so! If your grocery stores provides you with Organic Farm Grown fruits and vegetables from the USA you are lucky. Those who are not farmers but love to dig in the dirt know there are certain responsibilities in the Fall. Garden Chores for homeowners who enjoy digging in the dirt for planting flowers, trees, shrubs, and small vegetable gardens include:
Winterize with the correct fertilizer Know your moles, grubs and other garden pests and treat for pest control Keep pulling up summer veggies to make room for fall crops … (9 comments)

autumn: It's Time To Fall In Love - 10/01/22 09:15 PM
Butterflies in Flower Mound, Texas are getting prepared to migrate. It is time for Fall and transformation, and falling in love while embracing change and paying attention to the landscaping in beautiful Autumn.

Never miss an opportunity for a sunset in Fall. The air is fresh, clean, and so vibrant with positive energy.
Grapevine Nash Farms is always busy in the Fall. This is a fun place to tour in Autumn and fall in love with farm life as it was when Nash Farm began in 1869. It is never too late to Fall in love.

autumn: Good & Healthy Competition - 09/21/22 06:37 AM
Today is the last day of summer. Tomorrow starts Fall. These are the last of summer colors in Flower Mound Texas. I noticed the colors of Autumn began to emerge before the official date of Autumn on September 22, 2022, while fewer of the summer colors hung on and did not let go.
I also noticed a change in the real estate market but not much. I continue to plan for the future and serve now. I know exactly what to do because I learned long ago, I need a platform that continues to grow my business that attracts buyers and sellers … (28 comments)

autumn: December 1, 2021 - Flower Mound Trees - 12/01/21 06:14 PM
The trees of Flower Mound, Texas peaked today on December 1, 2021. No coats, sweaters, or jackets were needed on this beautiful first day of the month. As the sun began to shine early this morning until sunset the autumn leaves were vibrant in color.

This fiery red tree caught my eye this morning. Normally, I don't like stopping at traffic lights but as luck would have it today, I got the red light each time I drove through this intersection today and for that, I was glad.

2021 was a great year for Autumn foliage. I don't recall ever having a buyer … (21 comments)

autumn: The Month of November in Texas & Elsewhere - 11/04/21 07:17 AM
"Winter is an etching,
Spring a watercolor,
Summer an oil painting,
and Autumn, a mosaic of them all."
---Stanley Horowitz

November comes from the Latin root novem, meaning nine. In the Roman calendar there were only ten months. People born in November fall under the Zodiac signs of Scorpio (tenacious and magnetic type) or Sagittarius (an innovative trailblazer). This photograph was taken at the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth on November 2nd.
When the Crawdads Sing is a book I finished reading a few weeks ago. As seasons change, I like to cuddle up with a book to push the darkness away. Reading is an adventure and sometimes if you're … (22 comments)

autumn: FALL in Love with Fort Worth, Texas - 10/07/21 03:22 AM
Very often we live our lives in a busy world. Sometimes we get bored and yearn to relocate to a place that gives us joy. Let me show you why it's easy to FALL in love with Fort Worth during the beginning of Fall.

In early October things are still green like these lily pads. The lily may disappear but the pattern of leaves are reason to pause and take notice that change is always inevitable. Fall is a good time for reflections. Fort Worth brings beauty closely into focus.

In a crazy mixed up world, you can discover peace and quiet. This … (33 comments)

autumn: My Points Just Reached 2,222,222 Points! - 10/11/20 01:40 AM

AUTUMN IN TEXAS
Red falling leaves begins our signature season for change and Autumn does it boldly! The sun rises later these days and the setting sun comes sooner. This is Fall. I've already seen the butterflies pass through in large quantities and my last humming bird soared by to wave goodbye three weeks ago. Gone is the equinox that took place on September 22, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. Today, I found a ladybug inside my kitchen. I released it to the universe but it came back. I watched as it crawled on the outside window pane. Sometimes it's really hard to say … (18 comments)

Autumn in Flower Mound
Photos by Patricia - Taken on a Vacant Lot

Like an embryo that ripens inside of Mother's Earth, a big rock appears in the most unusual place. While living in Maine I found many rocks like the one in my photograph. They were very common in New England. This is the first one I saw in Flower Mound. Striking red berries reminds me that the holidays are right around the corner. A dragonfly enjoys tasty treats and seems to fly slower than usual. And this daisy must have gotten a second chance at life to breathe … (10 comments)

autumn: Green Anatole is Common in Flower Mound, TX - 09/18/18 04:51 PM

GREEN ANATOLE

Little lizards are common in Flower Mound, Texas. This one is a male and found something in the garden to blow out his sack under his chin to proclaim he is territorial. I'm glad they eat bugs but I would not touch them. Although people can turn them into a reptile pet, I prefer to keep them outside where they are free to roam on anything or anywhere, except me.

In summer they are a very pretty shade of green. Now that autumn is near, I noticed they are more brown. Just like scavengers, they eat insects. Although some people … (5 comments)

autumn: Autumn Flowers in Flower Mound - 11/01/17 12:39 PM
by Patricia Feager, 11/1/2017

As temperatures change between warm and cool, there's still time to see beautiful Autumn colors in Flower Mound and North Dallas. In addition, it's a great time to plant annuals like pansies and kale. Don't forget to plant spring bulbs, such as tulips and daffodils; then mulch to retain moisture and insulate roots against cooler temperatures. Lucky for me, my Chrysanthemums are already blooming and I haven't had to plant new ones for several years. The red ones on the top left are very vivid and they are putting on a show! I planted purple pansies, and purple/golden … (20 comments)

autumn: The Beauty of Fall & the Quiet of Nature - 10/09/17 09:55 PM
by Patricia Feager, 10/9/2017

DRAGONFLY
I captured the beauty of a blue dragonfly in Dallas on Sunday afternoon, 10/8/2017. His head looks like a marble, don't you think? They say a dragonfly has the eyes of a predator with 30,000 lenses. A dragonfly can see in every direction simultaneously. They are focused on watching prey as it flies in their scope of vision. Even more incredible, it eats food equal to its own body weight in about a half hour. It's prey rarely, if ever escapes. Once trapped, it is eaten.

autumn: Autumn - 10/24/10 07:18 AM
Autumn is the time I can listen to the rustling of the leaves and as the colors change so can I.
Here's a great quote by Henry Ward Beecher:
"No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it. Do not look back on happiness - or dream of it in the future. You are only sure of today; do not let yourself be cheated out of it."
Have a great Autumn Sunday! Make it memorable!
Cheers!
