family: AR 2023 August Challenge - Listen to your Gut - 08/03/23 01:57 PM
One of the most respected people who lived during my lifetime was Steve Jobs and Steve Woziak. The 1970’s through the 1980’s was a time in my life when they had guts. Simultaneously, I was tapping into my own gut to make wiser decisions later in life that would have a profound impact on my personal and business life.

Throughout life we are given many opportunities to learn from both Personal and Business experiences. This month’s challenge, hosted by  Carol Williams and Anna Banana Kruchten Phoenix Arizona is to reflect on wisdom gained from both types of life experiences as we … (34 comments)

family: November 2022 - I Am Thankful for Memories - 11/22/22 03:09 PM
November is the time to express gratitude. There are many things I am grateful for, but if I had to bundle my favorites inside a box with a pretty ribbon and top it with a bow, this is what you would find. A testimonial to what my best memories are, and why they are so special to me. Afterall, every single memory, big or small, great or not is a blessing to be pondered and appreciated.  A memory is a blessing. You must believe!

I am grateful for life’s many celebrations. Tying it all together, I would regret if memories did not … (11 comments)

family: Tuesday Edition for 4/28/2020 - An Opus - 04/28/20 09:09 AM

"Remember that writing is translation. And the opus to be translated is yourself." ---E. B. White

I was writing an opus on Tulips from Pilot Point on March 10, 2020 where I picked tulips from the Tulip Farm in Pilot Point, TX. The tulips in my photograph are a sample of what I picked by hand after walking up and down the tulip paths to choose what appealed to me most. I remember thinking to myself, I'll be back on my birthday to pick some more. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, I never got to go back. I spent my birthday in … (34 comments)

Entry for November Contest - What Am I Thankful For?

Today is my 10th post for Debbie Reynolds AR Contest. I am thankful for my faith and I never take it for granted. My grandparents from both my mother and my father's side suffered persecution and came to America for religious freedom. They were part of the first wave of immigrants, leaving everything behind except what limited things they were allowed to take for a chance to have freedom. Each went through the vetting process. One served in the U.S. Army in WW1(100 years ago). The other grandfather ended up … (9 comments)

"Family life is the backbone of mankind, and that life is
dependent upon mutual giving, sharing, and receiving from each other.
It entails the proper use of each other's successes and
failures for mutual upbuilding."
--- Mother Angelica

I was inspired by this landscape scene on an old country road in Texas on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Thus, the composition for this blog post. For business owners, people are thinking about fourth quarter, meeting their goals, analyzing budgets, etc. The holidays are drawing near. Have you thought about family members, neighbors, friends, particularly seniors who may be alone? I call them the … (28 comments)

family: Giving Thanks Doesn't Have to End... Does it? - 11/26/17 08:30 AM
by Patricia Feager, 11/26/2017

This post is written for the people who don't live with family members in multi-generational homes or in close proximity because a move or relocation changed the family dynamics. Holidays can be stressful only if you let it. Giving thanks doesn't have to end... does it?

In order to seek true happiness, we need to learn to
distinguish real happiness from imaginary kind --- John Lock

I am thankful for the holidays I had with long distance family members when it was possible. Giving thanks daily  for things right in front of me, or within my financial reach because it is … (26 comments)

family: Build a Gingerbread House With Your Guests - 12/21/16 01:11 PM
Musings by Patricia, 12/21/2016

What to do with holiday guests that are spending a few days? One of the best and most memorable things my kids and I did with my parents for Christmas was to spend time in the kitchen, building our very own Gingerbread House. Everyone was involved, even my Dad who never did KP duty! I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that he served in the Navy.

I'll never forget that evening of fun. All the materials were purchased in advance. After dinner and dishes were done, I turned on Christmas music and invited my family … (21 comments)

I don't normally share family photos but this one is something you have GOT to see! These four children are my Nephew Adam's children and I'm PROUD of them!

If there's one thing I can say sincerely, being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Children are little undeveloped brains, growing up with tiny fingers, arms, legs and body parts that are constantly growing out of clothes. They need to be reminded of things, and before you know it, they become people with muscles, intelligence or some... not so smart. All people have mysterious ways … (35 comments)

family: Monday Morning Musings - THINK DIFFERENT - 08/26/13 05:03 AM

JOBS is playing at the Movie Theater in the Flower Mound/Highland Village theaters. Ashton Kutchen does a superb job portraying the legendary Steve Jobs. I was quite surprised at Steve’s arrogance in the beginning of his career and quite frankly, I think it would have been difficult for me to work for such a man. By the time he got his girlfriend pregnant before he launched APPLE and the timing wasn't right, I really hated the man! As the movie progressed I was completely enthralled by his brilliance, vision and creativity. His accomplishments and success was not easily paved to good … (19 comments)

family: It's Not Where You Live But How You Live - 03/02/12 07:21 PM
It’s not where you live but how you live that really matters.
I was reminded of this while traveling to Sarasota, FL to honor the memory of my Aunt who recently passed away. She had lived a long, good life and this statue at the Marina in Sarasota reminded me that “Unconditional Surrender,” is not a bad way to live.
