Today I am thankful for Firefighters, smoke detectors, and Home Inspectors. The inspiration for this blog post is from a photo I took during my recent trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
When I saw this fire escape on the side of an old hotel, it sent shivers down my spine. I was reminded of the Ramada Inn fire in Dolton, IL on the morning of October 17, 1976, where my husband and I were rescued. I am thankful we have a tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving Day. It's a wonderful holiday for America that occurs during autumn, a season that is a catalyst for change. When family and friends can get together to have a Thanksgiving dinner, huddle together to watch football, or just celebrate and give thanks, it's a beautiful occasion. Kinship with family is a gift.

I stumbled upon this insect in Eureka Springs, Arkansas a few weeks ago. My guess is it's a katydid; however, an entomologist I am not. Still and all, I kept the same pose. We were both still. Me with my camera - bug doing his thing. What we shared was the learned behavior of FOCUS.

One of the criteria for buyers when moving is often schools and churches. It's an important factor for some homeowners when selecting a new location. In recent travel excursions in 2017, I noticed I also gravitated towards those church steeples pointing towards the sky and found some interesting ones that peaked my interest. This one is the Thorncrown Chapel located one mile west of Eureka Springs, Arkansas on Highway 62 West. Sunday Services are offered from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Today is a reminder that Daylight Saving time ends November 5th. Remember, clocks move back 1 hour. While in Eureka Springs, I was reminded about good use of time. Throwback Thursday
For Throwback Thursday I wanted to share my photograph taken at a quaint Coca Cola Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I framed it in this postage stamp frame in red and green to remind all of us how important Coca Cola was for the holidays and parties. The beverage was served inside people's homes, restaurants, schools, entertainment places, events, and even hospitals. As temperatures change between warm and cool, there's still time to see beautiful Autumn colors in Flower Mound and North Dallas. In addition, it's a great time to plant annuals like pansies and kale. Don't forget to plant spring bulbs, such as tulips and daffodils; then mulch to retain moisture and insulate roots against cooler temperatures. Lucky for me, my Chrysanthemums are already blooming and I haven't had to plant new ones for several years. The red ones on the top left are very vivid and they are putting on a show! Something distinctly different in Flower Mound that many people don't get in other cities are armadillos. Unfortunately, most people don't see them, until it's road kill. Although, I have seen them crawling around early, early morning and late at night, I never saw one during day time. They are very unusual creatures and harmless too. They look prehistoric and odd.

Growing together as a community to promote good health is one of the many distinct reasons why Buyer's choose Flower Mound, Texas. What sets the Flower Mound Farmer's Market located in Parker's Square apart from other Farmer's Markets in North Dallas is that it's not just about the people choosing plants, vegetables, and fruit. This morning I got to see this beautiful dog sniffing out the barbecue sauces. As soon as he was done, he mozzied on over to another friendly dog for communication.

Flower Mound, TX has many pre-schools. One of my favorites is Primrose School of Northeast Flower Mound, providing quality educational childcare for infants through Kindergarten, after school, and summer camp. The kids are getting reading for Trunk or Treat on October 27th.
Whenever I drive by the Primrose Pre-School in Flower Mound, I'm reminded of those little darlings who are just starting to learn. Teachers have to get very creative to keep their attention, stay focused, and make education fun. Kids say and do the silliest things. DRAGONFLY
I captured the beauty of a blue dragonfly in Dallas on Sunday afternoon, 10/8/2017. His head looks like a marble, don't you think? They say a dragonfly has the eyes of a predator with 30,000 lenses. A dragonfly can see in every direction simultaneously. They are focused on watching prey as it flies in their scope of vision. Even more incredible, it eats food equal to its own body weight in about a half hour. It's prey rarely, if ever escapes. Once trapped, it is eaten.

Fire Prevention week started in 1922 when the commemoration for the Great Chicago Fire began long after the devastation from the Great Chicago Fire on 10/8 through 10/10 in 1871. It was followed by President Calvin Coolidge's proclamation for the first National Fire Prevention Week on October 4-10, 1925. The theme for Halloween at the Dallas Arboretum is The Wizard of Oz. Membership for the Arboretum is a worthwhile investment for people of all ages and guests (limited numbers) are included. Fall flowers are a favorite of mine. When I get up in the moring and see the sun shining it makes me smile. If you look deeply into the center of a flower you can almost feel a spiritual connection, I know I do. Have you ever pulled the petals off a flower and said, "He loves me, he loves me not?" Why do people do that? To rip apart the petals off a flower breaks harmony with nature.

I had fun at the Pumpkin Patch taking photos and meandering through the field of dreamy pumpkins. Families can hop on board the wagon for a nice hayride through the patch too! For kids with lots of energy, they can bounce around in the bounce houses too.
