social media: Real People Storytellers vs. Invisible Social Media

We are all storytellers. During the last three days I met some amazing people. Each one had a different story to tell about themselves. On Wednesday, there was a lady much older than me who came from the entertainment world in New York. With her charming NY accent and her energetic style of life as a young girl she brought to life humorous and interesting tales about Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Don't we all want to know what some of the most famous movie stars were really like when they were not in the limelight? It wasn't gossip, it (15 comments)
What I love about the ActiveRain’s Community is its unique culture and Social Media Brand Integrity platform that consistently attracts members to engage with others in the Real Estate Industry which results into the power of knowledge exclusive to business owners for the benefit of consumers.
Because Culture is a place linked by courage, encouragement, and Professional Recognition, the Featured star posts are a means to positively stand out from the crowd while being supported and cheered on by others in the AR Community. Personally, I consider it valuable because it does impact a member’s ego and sense of (27 comments)
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." --- Henry David Thoreau
Happy Monday! My daughter sent me a photo of herself in the Swiss Alps yesterday and her picture reminded of a meaningful quote by Henry David Thoreau. As the receiver of this photograph, I see my daughter cares about me. How many times do people take photos that seems meaningless, i.e., cup of coffee, a plate of vegetables, fruit, or desert, etc. Posting various digital photos are a common trend on Instagram, Facebook, and other Social Media Platforms. People are taking advantage of digital photos (20 comments)
The story about Monica Lewinsky is known around the globe and will live on as part of the American history during the Clinton Administration and famous sex scandals forever. Like most people, I watched, listened, and read about Monica's story. Today I felt compassion for this young woman who was 22 years old when the scandal began and it's all because I listened to her side of the story on TED. Not that I condone her actions, but it has made me more cognizant of distorted news stories and judgment.
Why is a Real Estate Agent writing this story on (13 comments)
Social Media - Whether you are new to ActiveRain or have been a member for some time, read Weltanschauung & read the Community Guidelines. Many people begin by reading what others have to write first before writing their own post. This isn't a bad idea, it's just that you may get hooked on someone who isn't following the philosophy or the written guidelines. Therefore, to start off on the right foot, I recommend reading both the Weltanschauung and AR's Community Guidelines. Learn how to participate in social media right from the (27 comments)
My biggest Social Media Success Story started when I stepped outside my comfort zone and started my Blog on ActiveRain. I have to confess, it was scary dipping my toes out into the Universe. If memory is correct, I did it in the dark, late at night. Within minutes I received a reply. I couldn't believe my eyes! I wasn't alone! It all happened just that fast and I've been on ActiveRain ever since.
The premise, of course, was to get leads, sales, buyers, and sellers while earning money in Real Estate! But the truth is, that didn't happen. I cannot (21 comments)
March 7, 2016 is the 31st anniversary of the release of WE ARE THE WORLD written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie in 1985. It's a time to remember the cause and the people who recorded it, especially those who are no longer with us, Michael Jackson and Ray Charles. Also, it's nice to see an old familiar, very beautiful/recognizable face of Kenny Rogers before plastic surgery, and an interesting look at Cindy Lauper with her multi-colored hairdo which was so ahead of her time.
As I reflect back on the music industry, I'm proud of the leadership that took place within the group (14 comments)
social media: SOCIAL MEDIA, IT'S AS SIMPLE AS 1-2-3 - OR NOT...

The number of people using social-networking is increasing exponentially. Because of social media, people can enjoy a whole new world. One of the fears about getting on social medias, such as Facebook and Twitter is massive databases that store the information you enter into its systems. Here are three simple guidelines to protect yourself. 1) Make sure you understand and know how to control your privacy settings. When in doubt, don't! 2) Never post anything you wouldn't want the whole wide world to see. Never assume that you're having a private conversation between friends. Always remember, people can see through WINDOWS! 3) (8 comments)
