relocation: Packing and Moving-Getting Organized Helps! - 10/19/08 04:15 AM
It doesn't matter how many times you move each time seems to bring a new set of challenges.  Often the move just across town is the hardest as you think maybe I'll just throw the little things in my car and not worry about wrapping them up. It never fails that is the time you have to hit your brakes and everything goes flying.
One of the most important things you can do when you are getting ready for a move is to create a move checklist.  If you are undertaking a "Do it yourself" move start scouring your local Craig's … (8 comments)

relocation: Charlestown-A Springfield VA Neighborhood Welcomes You Home - 10/05/08 04:05 AM
Another great post by Cindy Jones on a local community.  I like the way she weaves information about the community with personnal experience.  Her history series on the Northern Virginia area,  the neighborhoods and commuting are tops on the list of the ones I send out to perspective buyers relocating to the area.
Enjoy!

In the past few months two of my military buyers have decided to call the Charlestown subdivision in West Springfield home.  Having owned a home myself in Charlestown for a number of years, knowing the schools, the commute to either the Pentagon or Fort Belvoir and the … (0 comments)

relocation: The Fluffernutter Bloggers - 07/31/08 09:42 AM
It finally hit me today.  I had been grasping at trying to figure out a term for some of the bloggers on Active Rain,.  You know the ones that post the same report over and over again.  Then it came to me "fluffernutter".  They are the light weight filling in Active Rain. Consumers probably don't care about them and they keep all of the good stuff you find here from getting to heavy.  So from now on I'm going to remember that they may be sweet but they have no substance.
Back to looking for good referral agents!

relocation: Have You Checked Your Voice Mail Recently? - 07/30/08 09:24 AM
Since my business is real estate referrals matching the right agent to the prospective buyer or seller is very important.  So when I place a referral I'm very anxious to hear back from my clients as to how it is going.
This weekend I got a frantic call from a client.  Seems the agent they had been referred to and had spent a few hours with viewing houses had suddenly disappeared.  They had found another house they wanted to see and all they got when they called the agent was a message that their VM was full.  So here is a … (4 comments)

relocation: Moving with Your Pet in the Summer Time - 07/13/08 03:51 AM
It is that time of year when the weather can be very dangerous to anyone moving with a pet.  First of all many pets just don't take well to travel of any kind but add 90 degree temperatures on top of that and the combination can be deadly.
If you are getting ready for a cross country move you need to make sure that you have checked with the hotels along your route to make sure that they can accommodate your animals.  Yes, I know if you have a cat you can sneak them in just about anywhere but if you … (2 comments)

relocation: Interested in More Demographics About a City - 02/16/08 08:36 AM
Thinking of moving and want to know more about the demographics of the area?
One of the tools then you might want to use this handy little city profile tool.  I've linked it based on my home area of Lorton Virginia but you can change it to look at any area in the US.

relocation: Relocation-What’s Going on Out There? - 02/14/08 09:38 AM
As a relocation specialist one of the things that we watch is the trends for major relocation hot spots.  Where are employees headed within or outside of the U.S? Currently the popular relocation hot spots include; Boston MA, Paris France, Los Angeles, CA, Korea and Washington DC.  With more companies opening or maintaining facilities overseas we expect to see the trend for foreign relocations to grown.Something new that we are seeing in relocation packages for employees is companies offering to cover a percentage of employee's loss on the value of their homes.  The average cost to move an employee comes in … (0 comments)

relocation: Getting Ready for Your Spring Move - 02/07/08 06:02 AM
Our phones are starting to ring with clients who have just learned that a move to a new location is in the air.  Getting ready to move no matter how prepared you are, is difficult.  So here are a few tips that might help you get started with the process.
The #1 Tip is PURGE.  Start with all of those magazines that are lying around.  If there is one article that you want to keep out of the entire magazine cut it out and scan it to your computer or a disc.  Go through the closets and clean out the clothes, … (0 comments)
