Tropical Storm Lee has finally left the DC and Northern Virginia area. This morning I went out to try and take a walk at Hidden Pond Nature Center in Springfield VA. I found washed out crossings over Pohick Creek and the turtles among the fallen branches drying out from all the rain.

The Sydenstricker School in Springfield VA was the last one room school house in operation in Fairfax County. It closed in 1939 but the building is still used today as a community meeting hall. The belfry contains the original school bell purchased in 1920's from the Sears Roebuck store in Alexandria. The school was named after the first minister of the original Sydenstricker Church next door built in 1909. Rev. Over the last few months the sales prices in the Townes of Orange Hunt have taken a positive turn upwards.
The last two "regular" sales closed at $284,000 and $330,000 respectively. The second sale of an end unit was a flip from a short sale purchase in May. Year to date in the Townes of Orange Hunt the average sale price has been $270,961 with an average subsidy of $5,325 for a net sales price of $257,605.
