Our client today is not moving; however, due to water damage most of his parquet wood flooring and several walls in his home need to be replaced.  So, his hallway, living room, dining room and part of his kitchen need to be packed up and stored in the back three bedrooms (along with accompanying furniture) while the eight-week repair construction takes place. 
Just an fyi... the insurance industry calls this "Content Manipulation" not packing & moving!  Whether you call it packing or content manipulation doesn't matter - what does matter is to carefully … (6 comments)

Every major moving company has their own Moving Checklist that is very detailed and starts at about six weeks out and takes you up to moving day. So, I’m not going to reinvent the wheel.
What I am going to do is give you a practical list of things to take care of – whether you are moving across the street, across town, or across the country.

A post yesterday by Cece Blase (Pay It Forward - Who Made My Purse?) reminded me of the great Artist in Residence Program we have here in San Francisco...
This is a photo of me behind a metal sculpture, "Screen Ball Gown" by Estelle Akamine, that sits in a 3-acre sculpture garden (itself a project by artist Susan Leibovitz Steinman), on the premises of the garbage transfer station in San Francisco.  I was fortunate to be the 2nd Director of the Artist in Residence Program from 1996 to 2000. Before I became an SF Professional Organizer.
