Wallingford Fire Displaces 22 Residents, Gift Cards Needed Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day in Wallingford for most of us. However, for 22 of our fellow residents, the day was far from pleasant. A fire at a three family home on South Whittlesey Avenue which started just before 8AM Friday morning caused extensive damage to the third floor and the residents of all three apartments are now without a place to stay and have lost much, if not all, of their belongings. 2013 Walk for Wishes Event Pat has been a Wish Granter for the Connecticut chapter of Make-A-Wish for a few years now, and it has been very rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of all the children whose wishes have been granted. We are, therefore, pleased to once again help raise money for this amazing organization by participating in their annual Walk for Wishes event, scheduled to be held on May 11, 2013.

Beardsley Zoo Hosts CT Make-A-Wish Walk For Wishes One of the most heartbreaking things that can happen in life is to be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness as a child. Not only can it be incomprehensible to the child, but it robs them of the hope and joy of living a full and rewarding life. On the way to perform my weekly task at the Wallingford Stop & Shop today, I saw a man standing near the entrance soliciting donations, a huge water cooler bottle in front of him that was filling quickly with offerings. This in itself is not unusual; every Sunday you can see a bevy of donation seekers camped at the entrance to the store, from the VFW to the Girl Scouts, various school organizations and civic groups.
