philadelphia real estate: I Cried When I Learned Who Stole My Client - 11/01/11 09:05 PM

It took me a while to decide to write this post because I know we are not suppose to add emotion to our business but this time I did. I lost a client a couple weeks ago. She came to me 2 yrs ago. She and her husband were looking for a larger house. She ran a day care outside of the home she was living in and she wanted a larger place for her family to grow and for her to expand her day care into in an Islamic pre-school. We searched long and hard. Finally, we … (10 comments)

I thought I'd keep it funny this week. I thought this week's quote was a chuckler....lol

I chose this quote because it is so true. Doing something with any other motivation besides passion from your heart defeats your purpose. Buying a home, selling a home, buying a car, picking a career, deciding to go into business for yourself and on and on and on. If something is in your heart, you do it just because, without focusing on the profit or praise from your actions. In doing this, you will excel. If something is in your heart, you move effortlessly through the obstacles and challenges you will face on your … (2 comments)

philadelphia real estate: Buyer Birds and Bees - 07/07/09 02:30 PM
I wonder, do you have "THE TALK" with your buyers? If so, what are you saying?

I recently referred a buyer out to my partner. She has been calling me for about a year. I would hear from her every couple of months when she would have a question on real estate. She was back and forth with her decision to buy a home and decided a couple of months ago to take the dive. I was happy for her that she had finally made her choice. BUT, my plate was full. I was working with quite a few buyers … (116 comments)

philadelphia real estate: Lions, and tigers, and questions OH MY!!! - 07/03/09 02:43 PM

Buying a home, especially your first home can be a crazy thing. You're like a fish out of water. You turn to real estate professionals to guide you through your process and lead you to the promise land safely with no scars and a smile on your face. Your family and friends get wind of what you're doing and you've got information coming from all angles and you really don't know who to turn to for answers. What do you do?
Well, you ask somebody. I will tell you that when you're buying a home, the only people from … (0 comments)

I was left so inspired, so motivated, so proud to be a realtor.....aw heck so a whole lot of stuff that I can't think of right now..... so positively charged.
That experience was Wayne Furlong. For those of you who do not know this wonderful blessing of a man, please do view his profile and attempt to be blessed with the priviledge of interacting with him. Wayne Furlong's Profile

philadelphia real estate: Case Of The Property Bandits - 12/10/07 03:10 PM
Last week, I get a phone call from my uncle. I pick up the phone and he's telling me how excited he is about a property he just saw. He says to me that he is stepping out on faith because he sees a building that is a good opportunity for a family business. He was soooooooo excited.
The next day (it was too late to be making appointments when he called me), I rushed to the phone to make the appointment. As soon as it was confirmed, I called my uncle and we met after he got off work that … (11 comments)

philadelphia real estate: I Love My Active Rain-O-Pedia - 12/04/07 03:39 PM
As you all may know, it can be a lonely world when you're new to this real estate business. I have had to basically learn everything on my own.
When I first started selling real estate in Georgia, I asked my broker about training and he told me I could pay for his $595 boot camp. I asked, isn't there any other training you have for your new agents and his response was no. How many new agents can afford this? My broker had to answer this question for himself when he didn't have many agents enrolling and decided to offer it … (21 comments)

philadelphia real estate: Mortgage Defaults: Freeze The Rates - 12/03/07 12:20 PM
I was reading the paper this morning and saw an article related to the mortgage mess that's getting us all in a frenzy.
Possible solution? Freezing the lower rates  for a little while. How long? Well the government is pushing for 5-7 years while investors aren't to happy about that and suggest 1-2 years.
My take on it. I'm with the investors. I think giving homeowners another 2 years to get themselves in a position to refinance at a better, more stable rate to avoid trouble is enough time. Considerable improvements can be made to a person's credit and financial situation in 24 … (6 comments)

philadelphia real estate: When The Neighbors Hinder Your Sale - 10/08/07 08:47 AM
I hosted my first open house this weekend. Quite interesting.
We had open houses for all of our listings yesterday. The only listing I had that wasn't already under contract wasn't ready for an open house, the seller is just procrastinating on making her house "eye ready". We allow showings but it just wasn't ready for an open house. I hosted an open house for another agent in my office. Boy was this a learning experience.
1. I learned that I need to learn to speak Spanish. The agent called me days before the open house assigned to me by my broker … (6 comments)

philadelphia real estate: Ahhhh The Loveliness Of Positive Thinking (I love my market) - 09/24/07 10:29 AM
When people make comments to me about the current market conditions, I smile and tell them that I nevermind the little things ;-) I'm always thinking positive and trying my best not to let anyone or anything define my success in whatever it is that I choose to do. I always think from a mindset of "Well there's closings everyday, people making the decision to buy a home everyday, people making the decision to sell their homes everday, and most importantly, there's closings everday." In any market, no matter what the condition is "suppose" to be, there's always people who manage … (7 comments)
