peoria: Restructuring Helps Keep Peoria's Theater Works Alive - 08/19/09 04:29 PM
After being informed that their annual grant from the Arizona Arts Commission would be drastically reduced by a whopping 73% due to state budget cuts, Theater Works in Peoria decided to save itself from having to close its doors by converting two of its full-time staff to independent contractor status as well as reducing the amount of staff positions in the company. Since the non-profit Theater Works depends on government grants to fund approximately two-thirds of its budget, the 73% decrease represents a major deficit. However, the company is determined not to suffer the fate of the West Valley Art Museum, who

President Obama's administration has implemented the Home Affordable Program offering loan modification and refinance options for distressed homeowners. The Home Affordable plan applies to home loans which are held by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The plan includes refinancing and loan modification options for homeowners who are not behind in payments. peoria: Foreclosures and Short Sales Still Drive Valley of the Sun Market - 02/11/09 01:23 PM
Foreclosures and short sales are still driving the market in the Valley of the Sun area. This trend is expected to continue through 2009. If you are looking for the bottom of the market before making a purchase, you will need a crystal ball because no one knows when that will occur (or has happened) until months after it happens. However, it does appear that the Valley of the Sun real estate market is rebounding to some degree. Sales are up from sales a year ago, according to the latest reports. In Phoenix, 1,290 single-family homes were sold last month compared to 461

peoria: Recycling Pays off in Peoria, AZ - 11/12/08 12:07 PM

As a "thank you" for residents' efforts, the city is offering free tickets to the final night game of the season for the Peoria Saguaros vs the Peoria Javelinas at the Peoria Sports Complex on Thursday, November 12th. You can download your free coupons by visiting their website. If you are one of the first 500

peoria: Small Town Living in a Big City Wrapper - 08/06/08 11:27 AM
As a major suburb of Phoenix, Peoria offers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of its big city neighbor, even though it is the 9th largest city in the state. Somehow, despite its size, Peoria keeps its small town atmosphere in check. The sunny weather provides for some amazing outdoor recreation, including watersports at Lake Pleasant, golf, tennis, dozens of parks, hiking, biking, camping and even spring training grounds for the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, both of which are major league baseball teams. Over the years, Peoria has even been quietly building a solid reputation as a mecca for culture and
