I am happy to report that the upswing in the Phoenix area has nothing to do with golf and lots to do with the current the real estate market, which has experienced an upswing of late. For the seventh year in a row, teacher John Vasey guided his Phoenix 6th grade Orangewood Elementary School students in their first real world math lesson: running an on-site school cafe. After weeks of preparation, the Cougars Hip Sports Grill opened last Saturday in Phoenix to serve lunch to 200 customers. Getting to this point took several weeks of planning. Prices for Phoenix homes have been on the decline in recent months, creating an 8.97% increase in the number of single-family homes sold in July (compared to June) and a 33.86% increase from July 2007. Condominiums and townhomes have decreased in price as well, creating a 16.2% increase in sales compared to June 2008.
