phoenix az: Phoenix Farmers Market - 08/12/09 01:09 PM
Across the country, farmers markets help encourage local farming as well as reducing your carbon footprint.  By purchasing fruits, vegetables and other wares from local vendors, less gas is consumed to bring these products to the marketplace and you get the absolute freshest of ingredients.  Luckily, Phoenix has its very own farmers market that takes place every Saturday in the downtown area (corner of Central and McKinley) from 8am-1pm.  It's absolutely FREE to gain admission to the market.  Vendors from all over Arizona congregate at the Phoenix Public Market to sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey, chocolate, bread, roasted coffee and even … (1 comments)

phoenix az: Phoenix Real Estate on the Upswing - 05/06/09 10:09 AM
I am happy to report that the upswing in the Phoenix area has nothing to do with golf and lots to do with the current the real estate market, which has experienced an upswing of late.  This is not to say everything is rosy.  But, recent figures are definitely on the upwswing, which means some figures are down.
    *      DataQuick Information reports that single-family home sales in the Phoenix area has increased 55.1%.    *      The number of homes for sale has steadily decreased since November of 2008, with 13,297 homes on the market (the highest number of homes in the … (0 comments)

phoenix az: Phoenix Prices Fall, But It's All Good - 04/08/09 12:48 PM
Prices continued to fall in the Phoenix area.  But, it is all good, folks.  You may be asking what is good about declining property values.  Well, the upside to this question is the blunt truth.  As home prices become more affordable, home sales go up.  We need to get to the bottom line so that the Phoenix (as in the legend) can rise again. For several years, Florida led the nation in foreclosures and falling prices.  Florida is now experiencing multiple offers on properties available for sale.  California home sales have jumped statewide by over 80% compared to last year.  The pulse is … (0 comments)

phoenix az: Elementary Students Run Cafe and Learn About Math - 10/02/08 10:53 AM
For the seventh year in a row, teacher John Vasey guided his Phoenix 6th grade Orangewood Elementary School students in their first real world math lesson: running an on-site school cafe.  After weeks of preparation, the Cougars Hip Sports Grill opened last Saturday in Phoenix to serve lunch to 200 customers.  Getting to this point took several weeks of planning.  Students went to restaurants to learn how to serve customers, trailing the waitstaff at Glendale's El Paso Bar-B-Que during lunch time and even serving some customers there.  They visited grocery stores to learn about fractions and decimals by looking at jars of peanut butter and rolls … (1 comments)

phoenix az: Some Positives in the Phoenix Marketplace - 08/20/08 11:48 AM
They say that patience is a virtue.  Prices for Phoenix homes have been on the decline in recent months, creating an 8.97% increase in the number of single-family homes sold in July (compared to June) and a 33.86% increase from July 2007.  Condominiums and townhomes have decreased in price as well, creating a 16.2% increase in sales compared to June 2008.  Another leading indicator that the Phoenix real estate market may be starting a bit of a correction is that the DOM has decreased in just the last month.  June's DOM for single-family homes and condos were both 127, while July's DOM for condos and … (0 comments)
