We Staged This House Last Week, We Heard Today That They Want to Close Escrow Next Week. - 07/31/10 01:31 PM
That's right.  We barely had time to breath and even review our pictures of this home that my Company just staged last week, when we got the call, "We had several offers on the house and the one we opened escrow with looks like they want to close next week.  Will that be a problem to de-Stage that quickly?"  Needless to say we were thrilled, and of course our answer was , "No problem at all!"
This is the 4th house we have Staged for this Client and these smart Developers know that Home Staging WORKS to help them sell their properties … (21 comments)

A Brilliant New Alternative: Wine for Staging, Entertaining and SO Much More! - 07/31/10 12:29 PM
Vino Luci Wine Bottles These are the Vino Luci Collection from TuscanHomeDecor.com  which are amazing and the possibilities seem endless: actual wine bottles turned functional and beautiful.  The brilliance is that they come complete with LED candles which are flameless and heatless, but look like real dripping candles inside the bottles.  Imagine an elegant dinner party with cheese trays and wine tastings; collected as centerpieces for an outdoor dinner party; a touch of whimsy on a mantle for a little bit of the "unexpected".  A collection of the blue and white together would make a beautiful nautical statement,  as well as be the talk of the  town at a Chanukah Party, … (7 comments)

I'm NOT a Realtor, but I WILL Help You Sell Your Home! - 07/19/10 11:01 AM
"Price, Condition, Presentation"
NAR released that almost 93% of today's Home Buyer "shops" for their next home via the Internet and marketing presentation of each home. Did you also know that only about 10%  Buyers can visualize a home's true potential and be able to actually "see" past the awkward floor plan, cavernous spaces or home owner "clutter"?
We think the proof is in the pudding and thought we would share just a FEW of the successes we have been a part of in just the past couple months of 2010.
No, we're NOT Realtors, but we will help you to … (13 comments)

Out of sight IS out of mind. Banish thy clutter! - 07/18/10 10:50 PM
This is an excellent blog post by a ReMax Realtor in PA. Richard gets it. He's seen it, he's heard it, he's lived it; and has some great suggestions on how to get PAST it - "clutter".

Via Richard Strahm (RE/MAX Realty Group - Harleysville, PA):
I'm a pack rat.  I live a cluttered life style.  I collect things, on purpose and inadvertently.  And I'm fine with it.  Because I'm not trying to sell my house!  But you shouldn't be fine with it when trying to sell.
Too many times when I'm listing a home for sale, the owners will dismiss … (3 comments)

So, you've used one in the PAST, but are they still in business TODAY? - 07/12/10 12:28 PM
So you have used a Home Stager in the past, That's GREAT!  But are they still in business?
In recent weeks our Company has been in contact with MANY Realtors in the Ventura and Los Angeles County areas and we are thrilled to hear that so many of them have used a Home Stager in the past.  But what about the present?
Since Platinum Home Staging, Inc. networks with many other Home Stagers  and Companies ourselves; during the course of conversation we would often inquire, "That's fantastic that you have used a Stager before.  Do you mind if we ask what Company that was?"   (We always … (4 comments)

A Stager's Advice to Realtors - 07/08/10 03:28 PM
I couldn't have said it better myself, but since I didn't; I'll pass along the wisdom.

Via Patsy Overton (Stage, Show & SELL Home Staging Co. Atlanta, Georgia):
A Stager's Advice to Realtors
Lately I've been on the agent circuit, having done recent home staging presentations for local Keller Williams, Re/Max and Prudential GA Realty offices.  On the third presentation I realized that there are several key points that I always emphasize when I have the chance.  I'd like to share them with you.  Here they are:
Never lose sight of the fact that the photos you post to your listings are infinitely … (1 comments)

Setting the Table for a Quick Sale - 07/06/10 11:01 AM
There were some very strong opinions in the comments of a recent blog post concerning how a particular home was "staged". Each table was set for dinner (even incorrectly as pointed out by some).  As a Professional Home Stager  in the Los Angeles and Ventura County areas, some Clients and Realtors are even asking us to "set" the tables when we are Staging.  It is in my humble opinion that this can be very contrived and over-done if not done properly which prompted this post to maybe be of inspiration to others in alternatives to "setting" the tables when preparing a home for sale.

"Excuse Me, But When Is Trash Day?" - 07/05/10 02:00 AM
It seems like a trivial question, but it is one that you need to be asking.
"Why?  How would it possibly do ME any good to ask this of my Clients" - for several reasons, here are just a few to consider and I am quite sure these will ring a bell in more than just a few situations.
Trash pick-up day obviously varies from city to city, but it also varies from street to street even in the same neighborhood.  In the neighborhood where I live, trash day takes place on Friday, but 2 streets away, it takes place on Thursdays.  … (14 comments)

"What Could They Possibly DO for 7 HOURS?!" - 07/02/10 11:56 PM
It all began when the Listing Realtor contacted us to perform a Home Staging Consultation  for this new listing.  It's a beautiful Westlake Village family pool home with a multi level floor plan; 5 bedrooms and 4 full baths. Although the Sellers had already "decluttered" per the Realtors suggestion from the numerous family photos and nick-knacks, this is what we walked in to see.

Still lots of "clutter" and personal photos. So we walked the home with them and made several suggestions regarding paint colors, personal items and photos, furniture arrangement, etc and within 24 hours presented them with a detailed 6 page room-by-room road-map … (20 comments)
