While Visions of Sugar Plums Danced in Their Heads... - 12/17/10 10:26 AM
This is a great family home with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, grand "open" floor plan, 2 car detached garage with pool, hot tub, and a Pool House complete with its own full bath and kitchenette located in a quiet neighborhood in Northridge, CA.
You would think that the description alone would sell the house by itself.  But this Developer knew that the "grand" open floor plan would be confusing to most Northridge Buyers, and while the home definitely had its ammenaties, it also had its challenges.  This is the 4th Home we have Staged for this Developer and while the house looked like … (4 comments)

Custom "Ordered" Cabinets Does NOT Mean Custom "Made" - 12/16/10 09:53 AM

What you are looking at is the view from under a corner-cabinet installation.   In this case the "contractor" sold the Home Owners on the fact that they were going to get  "... a completely redesigned kitchen with ‘custom made' cabinets...."  Needs less to say what they GOT for the "...get what you pay for..."  bid were   Made in Ch*na  modular cabinets and THIS is what his crew did to accommodate the fact that the modular cabinets;  with their predetermined size, depth & dimensions didn't actually "fit" the space.  They lost ALL this valuable storage space for dishes/glass/etc - and this was only … (4 comments)

Trying to Save an Arm, Might Surely Cost you a Leg - 12/13/10 08:00 PM

This is part of an on-going series concerning acceptance of  "the lowest bid" and what you get for the money. More along the lines of "Buyer Beware" or the old adage, "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is."  In Interior Design and Construction (or Home Staging) this is consistently true.  In this particular case, the Home Owner truly went with the lowest bid; in her own words, "Nobody could touch this Contractors prices".  On top of this, she and her husband thought that they would save even more money by acting as their own "contractors" and overseeing the project themselves … (28 comments)

Pick Your Perfect Rug Right in Your Own Home - 12/13/10 10:31 AM

Not only is their huge selection of rugs AMAZING  (and can certainly even be overwhelming) but NW Rugs has impeccable customer service that simply cannot be beat.  We love to bring our Interior Design Clients to the show room in Agoura Hills, CA where we can help our Home Owners choose anything from modern to traditional styles, tapestry to shag  and any shape or size from 3′x5′ to well over 16′x20′.

The best part is that at NW Rugs, if you find yourself uncertain about the "perfect" rug for your home, and can't make up your mind. For a small fee, NW Rugs … (4 comments)

".... Somebody had been smoking in MY HOME." said Momma Bear - 12/08/10 03:55 PM

The above picture was  NOT  photo-shopped, but taken on a job site of a Client's home where Platinum Home Staging, Inc.  has been brought in to "save the day".  You see, these Home Owners thought they would save a little money by not hiring a Professional to help over see the Interior Remodel of their newly purchased home.  They instead hired a "contractor" and felt that they would save a lot of money by overseeing the project themselves.  This "contractor" does not warrant a capital  "C"  in our humble opinion by what his company, sub-contractors and tradespeople have done to this couple and … (11 comments)
