So many times we hear advertising that Home Staging is, “Easy!” or “Not hard work….” yet time and again our Clients (even our furniture movers) are amazed when they enter a home we are in the midst of Staging and see US not only carrying heavy bins filled with accessories, books or bedding; but watch US move a sofa across the room in the blink of an eye. We are not “Point and delegate” Home Stagers. We want it done, and we want it done right – the first time.

This is part of an on-going series concerning acceptance of "the lowest bid" and what you get for the money. More along the lines of "Buyer Beware" or the old adage, "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is." In Interior Design and Construction (or Home Staging) this is consistently true. In this particular case, the Home Owner truly went with the lowest bid; in her own words, "Nobody could touch this Contractors prices". On top of this, she and her husband thought that they would save even more money by acting as their own "contractors" and overseeing the project themselves … (28 comments)

The above picture was NOT photo-shopped, but taken on a job site of a Client's home where Platinum Home Staging, Inc. has been brought in to "save the day". You see, these Home Owners thought they would save a little money by not hiring a Professional to help over see the Interior Remodel of their newly purchased home. They instead hired a "contractor" and felt that they would save a lot of money by overseeing the project themselves. interior design: How to Bring Organized Calm to an 8' x 10' Sound Studio - 10/01/10 09:52 AM
This was a very different project then the typical Interior Design or Re-Design challenge. This was designing a VERY small room (only 8' x 10') into a functional, organized, calm sound studio for a nationally syndicated radio host who works out of her home. Sound quality, acoustics, projection, equipment, wiring, lighting.... as well as a space that Guests could come in to record interviews had to ALL be implemented into this tiny 8' x 10' space.

OK: the Interior Design itself did NOT take 15 years to complete; it took the Home Owners 15 years to decide to finally call a Professional Interior Decor Company to help them make their lake-side house into the home they always wanted. The entire process from the very first meeting to complete installation only took 8 short weeks.

What many people don't know is that Professional Home Stagers also make GREAT Interior Designers....or in this case, Patio Designers. This morning my company did this installation in Studio City, CA for a high priced office complex, but their Valet Patio and Roof Top Deck was far from attractive to fetch new Clients to fill any vacancies.

OK, maybe more along the lines of a major demolition, this post is concurrent with previous blogs Do You Wanna Shag, Baby? and From Pepto-Pink to Classic Cool . This Westwood, CA bungalow went through a major overhaul in the past few weeks and this is definitely one of the BEST rooms of the transformation - the now eat-in kitchen.

This Interior Design project is in conjunction with a previous blog, From Pepto Pink to Classic Cool. This is the main living room of the Westwood, CA 1950's Bungalow complete with original, 3″ (although very matted down) shag carpeting. The owners wouldn't even consider bringing their young toddler into the house until this was gone for fear of what "was living" in the carpeting. But what these first time home buyers COULD see was the home's potential. GREAT coffered ceilings, huge windows, large living space.

How many times have you walked into a home and seen the "master suite bed" look like this? "Clean & White" in this instance is usually portrayed as lack-luster or forgotten about.

Who would have thought that your grandma's tea cups on the walls in the kitchen, the metallic floral or the burlesque velvet wallpapers would be back "in"?
OK - maybe none of the above, but the wallpapers of today are very cool and are VERY much the new and hot "in" option to simply painting your walls.
