I got CHEWED OUT ! Here is why.

I got chewed from one of my competitors for doing a inspection on a Sat. He lost the booking to me. Well I see it as customer service. He also chewed me out for offering FREE RADON with every inspection saying I was killing the prices in our market. WRONG, is the way I see it.. I see as giving people a better bang for their buck. I can not see charging $100-150 for something that only runs $20 to buy.. Heck I throw it in and use it for a marketing tool. AM I wrong? I do not think so..

Home inspection or appraisal?"

I do not know how many times people ask me "So now how much is this home worth?" And I say I do not know because I do not do appraisals. They look at me dumb-founded and here we just spent the past three hours talking about your new home. I remind them I am just a home inspector.

Now here is short story on that: After three hours on a home inspection with this seemly Smart Lady she asked that all important question of "How much?" Then when I gave her my standard answer she got really, really upset with me and threw me out of the house and refused to pay me.( I got this referral from a past client.. this Lady, was buying with a agent hummmm what do you agents call them?LOL) After explaining to her husband that I was not trying to RIP THEM OFF He understood the difference between the both and all turned out well.

Anyone else ever hear of this? PLEASE DO SHARE!!!

What are the do's and don'ts for Home Inspectors to market to Agents

I would like to know what agents feel is the most effective why for a home inspector to market to them without becoming a pain in the butt. Or even great ways to meet the agents. What you agents feel would work the best. How do you respond to Inspectors marketing technics? I have tried many but I am still looking for that magic one. whether it be a saying, a service, a smile. I guess what i am looking for is how i can gain their trust.

ask an home inspector

Here is a place for Real estate agents to ask a licensed and certified Home Inspector those all mighty questions as WHY did my inspector report or say this. Just to give another tool into understanding OUR thought process, LOL or at least mine. So you guys and gals feel free to fire away. I do not care how technical it is. Or if you just have a general question about something you have seen somewhere. I would reallt like see what the agents can come up with... The harder the better...LOL.... bring it on...

Why have an home inspection?

Does the realtor want to assume all of the responsibility of the home they are selling or do want to have a shared responsibility? Someone with knowledge, experience and most importantly some with INSURANCE to take on that responsibility, to find what can not been seen. Does the client really want to get screwed? NO! They want to know everything about that house, and then some.

Most important is buying or selling your new home with confidence. Whether buying or selling a home, knowing the current condition is a wise decision.

A home inspection is an in-depth comprehensive, visual inspection of almost everything in the home. So... Why is it so important to have a Home Inspection?

Does the average home buyer even have a clue what they are looking at? Except where they are going to put the couch and who gets what sink. This is the main reason for home inspectors, Home inspectors look beyond the cosmetics and into the "nut-and-bolts" of the home.

Most states now require some type of licensing. Thus making home inspectors to step up their game and become more knowledgeable and home inspectors are becoming highly trained in the process. Most inspectors are now looking at almost 400 items during an inspection. Some are even offering some sort of advice as how to make some repairs and how to some minor maintenance issues (thus reducing the chance for a broken deal).
