arizona: Backpacking In Arizona, Pictures - 11/30/07 07:28 PM

Last week I asked if anyone had been backpacking in Arizona. This week I am saying GO BACKPACKING IN ARIZONA! Despite what I thought...Arizona is not a flat state. The hiking was pretty hard with a big elevation gain, spotty trails and rough terrain. All-in-all...totally worth it. This area is the Mazatzal Mountains a bit south of Flagstaff. My wife and I had a blast being out in the unforgiving Arizona Wilderness for 3 days! Start planning your trip!

arizona: Any Arizona Backpackers on ActiveRain? - 11/21/07 11:55 AM

Hello outdoor enthusiasts!
My wife and I go backpacking every Thanksgiving to enjoy and be thankful for the great outdoors. This year we are heading to the Mazatzal Mountains south of Payson, AZ on the 87. We are hiking the Barnhardt-Rock Creek loop and camping along the way. We will be out for 2 nights and 3 days.
I am wondering if anyone can provide any local advise that might be helpful for our trip. I did scope out the weather and looks pretty fair during the day and in the twenties at night. We are coming in from San Diego so we … (2 comments)
