Monte Sereno, California- the small neighbor next to Los Gatos in Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley)
Nestled against the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains on the west side of Santa Clara County (about an hour south of San Francisco and a few minutes from San Jose), Monte Sereno is a scenic, small city which is semi-rural with neither sidewalks nor street lights. It has, in fact, the smallest population of the 15 cities within Santa Clara County, having just about 4000 residents in about 1.6 square miles. How is the Monte Sereno real estate market? Because the city is small, with just about 4000 residents, there usually are few homes listed for sale or selling, and with small numbers we can get seeming volatility. Here are the quick statistics for the closed sales in March 2011 – please see my monthly Monte Sereno Real Estate Report for more details:
If we look at the data on a quarterly basis, though, a different trend begins to appear.

Monte Sereno is a small city next to Los Gatos and Saratoga, Ca, a nice part of Silicon Valley against the coastal foothills. It's completely residential except for the city office and the post office. With just 4000 residents, it is sometimes overlooked or treated like a suburb of Los Gatos, with which it shares a zip code and some services.Monte Sereno real estate is a little different then Los Gatos real estate, though.
