On Thursday, June 21, 2007, I attended the initial meeting of homeowners for The Boardwalk on the Waterway. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss adding homeowners to the board, as well as the current progress of the community. (And yes, I AM a property owner!) According to the project's construction manager, the boardwalk itself is scheduled to be completed within 6 weeks. The roads should begin being paved in approximately 3 weeks. The guard house is nearly complete, and the entrance is coming along nicely. The Boardwalk on the Waterway is a gated community located south of Highway 501, near the former Waccamaw Pottery, on the Intracoastal Waterway. Currently in its pre-construction phase, The Boardwalk features waterfront and interior homesites, most of which lie along the two large interior lakes. The landscaped and illuminated entrance walls lead you past the gatehouse and lead you toward a seawall and boardwalk, will allow homeowners to walk along the waterway, enjoying the coastal breezes and the watching various boats crusing past. The Battery on the Waterway is a charming gated community located just north of the Grissom Parkway bridge, and are the southern neighbors of the Grande Dunes subdivision. The Battery consists of 99 homesites with the architectural style reminiscent of Charleston homes, narrow in width but deep in length, with long stretches of porches and decks for enjoying the scenery. This community also features a private boat launch, secured boat storage facility and a beautiful observation gazebo overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
