The following five Carolina Forest gated communities have been recently constructed, or are currently under construction, and have allowed property owners to access the Intracoastal Waterway with very little financial investment:

intracoastal waterway: Try the ICW... - 08/13/07 11:31 AM
Along the world-famous Grand Strand, there are a multitude of real estate possibilities on the oceanfront.  However, a new trend indicates that one of the most ideal locations for a home these days is the Intracoastal Waterway.
Beginning in Maine and traversing the coastline all the way down through Florida, the Intracoastal Waterway offers mariners a protected nautical "highway".  Initially created by the US military to protect submarines and ships, carrying valuable cargo, from enemy attacks in the ocean, this waterway has become a much desired alternative to the unpredictable oceanfront.
With lower maintenance and insurance costs, the Intracoastal Waterway offers water-lovers a waterfront lifestyle at a much reduced pricetag than oceanfront.  … (0 comments)

intracoastal waterway: 6-22-07 Progress Report - 06/23/07 02:55 PM
On Thursday, June 21, 2007, I attended the initial meeting of homeowners for The Boardwalk on the Waterway.  The purpose of the meeting was to discuss adding homeowners to the board, as well as the current progress of the community.  (And yes, I AM a property owner!)
According to the project's construction manager, the boardwalk itself is scheduled to be completed within 6 weeks.  The roads should begin being paved in approximately 3 weeks.  The guard house is nearly complete, and the entrance is coming along nicely.  (See latest photos at http://carolinawaterfront.net/boardwalk/)
Many exciting things are happening with this community, and we look forward … (2 comments)

intracoastal waterway: The Boardwalk on the Waterway - 06/23/07 02:18 PM
The Boardwalk on the Waterway is a gated community located south of Highway 501, near the former Waccamaw Pottery, on the Intracoastal Waterway.  Currently in its pre-construction phase, The Boardwalk features waterfront and interior homesites, most of which lie along the two large interior lakes.
The landscaped and illuminated entrance walls lead you past the gatehouse and lead you toward a seawall and boardwalk, will allow homeowners to walk along the waterway, enjoying the coastal breezes and the watching various boats crusing past.
Homesites are currently available on both the waterfront, and the interior, at very attractive prices.  Not only are three members of my team (myself … (0 comments)

The Battery on the Waterway is a charming gated community located just north of the Grissom Parkway bridge, and are the southern neighbors of the Grande Dunes subdivision.
The Battery consists of 99 homesites with the architectural style reminiscent of Charleston homes, narrow in width but deep in length, with long stretches of porches and decks for enjoying the scenery.  This community also features a private boat launch, secured boat storage facility and a beautiful observation gazebo overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
Not only are three members of my team (myself included) former representatives of the developer of this community -- we are property owners as well!

intracoastal waterway: Shepherd's Cove - Little River - 06/15/07 05:42 AM
Presenting a gated community in historic Little River, South Carolina, featuring luxury condominiums and outstanding views... Shepherd's Cove.  Let's begin with it's idyllic location...
Little River, South Carolina, is one of the oldest settlements along the east coast, established in the late 1600's. Located just south of the North Carolina sate line, and about 20 miles north of Myrtle Beach, this quaint coastal town remains unincorporated, with about 7,000 residents, and is widely known for its fishing and boating trades.
The relaxed pace of life in Little River is treasured. A highlight for both visitors and residents alike is to watch the fishing and … (0 comments)
