Southern Living says Myrtle Beach is second only to Disney World as region's most popular family destination! Time to make more room in the award storage cabinet. Southern Living's annual Readers' Choice Awards, which reflect the view of the magazine's 47,000 readers, announced for 2008 that Myrtle Beach is second only to Walt Disney World as a family vacation destination. This just confirms what those of you who are lucky enough to vacation here with kids already know... and why the Myrtle Beach real estate market is poised for a spectacular rebound once the media moves on to a new whipping

oceanfront: Top Five Super Easy Items That Should Be On Your To-Do-List - 06/10/08 06:08 PM
Depending on where you live, you've probably had some spectacular days to remind you of what's in store over the next few months. Meanwhile, your home is in need of some TLC this month, so let's get right to it. Since we received such a positive response to last month's top five list, we're doing it again: 1. Wash your windows, both inside and out. If you can stand it, scrub the window frames and shutters (if you have them). Replace storm windows and doors with screens. Time to start letting in the fresh air! 2. Pressure-wash outside surfaces. Spray sidewalks,

oceanfront: Waterway vs. Oceanfront - 05/01/08 02:46 PM
Here in Myrtle Beach, we are fortunate to have the Intracoastal Waterway as an alternative route for nautical transportation. The ICW traverses the east coast of the United States from Texas to Main. It is calm, has a tidal variation of between 2-5' depending on the location, and is home to various shops, restaurants, marinas, and easy outlets to the Atlantic Ocean. oceanfront: Try the ICW... - 08/13/07 06:31 PM
Along the world-famous Grand Strand, there are a multitude of real estate possibilities on the oceanfront. However, a new trend indicates that one of the most ideal locations for a home these days is the Intracoastal Waterway. Beginning in Maine and traversing the coastline all the way down through Florida, the Intracoastal Waterway offers mariners a protected nautical "highway". Initially created by the US military to protect submarines and ships, carrying valuable cargo, from enemy attacks in the ocean, this waterway has become a much desired alternative to the unpredictable oceanfront. With lower maintenance and insurance costs, the Intracoastal Waterway offers water-lovers a waterfront lifestyle at a much reduced pricetag than oceanfront.

oceanfront: Myrtle Beach Pavilion - 07/24/07 02:56 PM
Did your family grow up coming to Myrtle Beach and spending hot summer days at the Pavilion? Although the oceanfront amusement park landmark is no more, several of its rides have a new home at Broadway at the Beach, near Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. And fans who want to take a ride down memory lane can enjoy "The Last Ride: Memories of the Myrtle Beach Pavilion," a 30 minute documentary next month on South Carolina's public television network, ETV.Burroughs & Chapin Company, which owned the park, plans to build a mix of stores, restaurants, lodging and attractions there, but is reportedly waiting
